with dedicated video chip why nokia is limiting the youtube playback quality.i have tried all the hq settings.try youtube mobile website on some htc phone like hd2 it plays them at 640+ resolution.i hope there is a workaround for this .or may be nokia can fix it on atleast  when using wi-fi.thanks guys

I have just got my new Nokia N8 and it is a nice phone which has a 3.5-inch (89 mm) 360 x 640 pixel color touchscreen, 720p HD recording camera.

But there is a limination in its playable video formats. The video that it supports are in DivX, XviD, MP4, H.264, H.263, WMV format.

As a movie lover, I got a Nokia N8 Video Converter supportING named Aunsoft Video Converter  to convert all formats of videos to H.264 MP4 for Nokia N8, including but not limited to TiVo videos, MKV videos, VRO, WMV, TS, TP, MTS/M2TS videos, VOB videos, AVI, HDTV TP files and RMVB videos.

me too suffering from same youtube playback issue. every phone is playing youtube videos in HQ except N8

You can get HD for nokia.

Just use the nokia default web browser. There is an option to choose HQ, just select that and you can watch using flash lite

I have an N8, and I still have problems with this. Yes, there is an HQ button choice, but this will only change the resolution to poor 320x240. I have tried both standard and the flash beta version, but none works for actual HQ video. Also tried to switch to Desktop Mode, where you actually can see the "p" settings, but only 240p is available for choice... Tried using Opera as well, but it says it requires a newer version of Flash Player...

Is there any way of really solving this? At least 360p would be nice...anything but 240 =/

It's seriously a rather interesting scenario here. I would like some facts here because I've got an N8 with seriously **bleep** Youtube Player on it. It's honestly unacceptable.

I want to know, is the playback quality of Youtube on the Nokia N8 limited due to Flash specifications or is HQ for Youtube on Nokia N8 being intentionally kept away from us for numerous other reasons.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised. I'm not blaming Nokia here but it seems rather that Google themselves are the culprits. They are happy supplying Youtube Players for HTC phones with WP7 capable of playing HQ, but where is this for the Nokia N8. So can every other phone other there!

Honestly the Youtube Player supplied via m.google.com is an absolute disgrace. The fact that they even released such an unworthy app seems only to point to the truth that they are intentionally not allowing Nokia N8 users to have access to such quality video, especially with a phone with the features of Nokia N8. The freaken quality of normal browser on N8 is far superior than that of the joke of an app.

People playing HQ videos on Youtube and showing it to their friends with HDMI on a HIGH DEFINITION Television probably wouldn't make every other phone out there look so good.

Now, please somebody help me.I've heard of 'Beta' HQ Players out there and so forth, but i need some verification here by somebody please. Tell me what options I have here!

Any update on this? I'm fed up with the low quality youtube app. Is there any other video apps which have got around this?

The youtube app is letting the the N8 down bigtime.Cmon Nokia sort it out for god sakes.

i have the same issue
I also get lots of pixelization when playing youtube
have tried the HD but it pixelates on rapid changes on screen. its not the download as the progress bar is ahead also if I rewind to beginning same thing. I think it is a codec performance issue.
