Transferring videos to my Nokia 5800

None of the videos I transfer to my 5800 xpress music, actually play on it. Any ideas on what the problem could be?  I know the problem is not incorrect format cos i tried uploading mp4 files from my laptop.

Re: Transferring videos to my Nokia 5800

I am having same sort of issue - after the video gets transferred and try to play it, i get an error like: "unable to play video file" something like that.

I use videora for Nokia 5800 as the video converter, and transferred it using both, ovi and nokia pc suite, still same issue.

Very strange issue since i can play it on my computer with the video format MP4, however when I transfer it to the phone the format changes to something different, pls Help!

Re: Transferring videos to my Nokia 5800

Hmmm...not sure as I have not had 'many' problems with the video player on my 5800. ;-)

As long as I convert the files to MP4 (with H264), they seem to play okay. However, I do convert using iSquint on a Mac and then transfer to My Videos folder via Nokia Multimedia Transfer, so there may be some differences...

However, with that said, I still have some videos that just refuse to play! Not many, but a few here and there. If l play on my iMac, they play fine in iTunes or Quicktime...but on my Nokia 5800, they just say wrong file format (surprising as I converted them at the same time as other videos that play without a glitch). I have even try to re-convert those files from their original AVI format again to the MP4 (H264), but to still no avail. So on those, I just gave up. But like I said, it is only about 5 videos out of 120...so they're a minority...

Re: Transferring videos to my Nokia 5800

Usually if you load videos from internet there is some codecs already inside video clip, they make video bad to transfer. I use PC Suite to transfer videos and I convert and use only uncompressed .avi for transfer. With that I get best results and picture quality is very good. I make 3D models and short animations and you can see how good picture is, download my demo reel (test version), right click link, save to your computer and there transfer it what way you like. Use whole screen option when you watch video in your phone. It is 9 meg in size, so if you load it to your phone, it may take too long :smileyhappy:
