Photo quality and video quality need to be improved N95 8GB

N95 8GB is a very good phone which i bought primarily due to it's 5MP Carl Zeiss camera. But i am very disappointed with the compression algorithm used by Nokia both for image and video. I've updated latest firmwares, currently on v31.0.015. But the image and video quality never improved. I wonder why Nokia shouldn't provide a high quality setting for both image and video (even if it's not default) for real photo lovers. What is the benefit of using Carl Zeiss optics if the compression algorithm is bad?. 30 fps for video is good but detailing is very bad. All the small details are lost due to bad compression. Only closer and large objects are good. Nokia needs to address this issue in their next firmware. It's not good to advertise 5MP Carl Zeiss as pure marketing strategy but should provide the quality the real user needs. I spend 600$ for it mainly for it's camera. Certainly disappointed i'am. I request Nokia should take this as a serious matter and provide High Quality compression settings in their next firmware for RM-320.

Re: Photo quality and video quality need to be improved N95 8GB

hello,

this is a common problem and complaint that every nokia N95 or N95 8gb users face and post, my advice for u is to go for a nokia N82, for  imaging freaks like u its a very good phone the difference comes only in the flash, N95 8gb has a LEDflash while the Nokia N82 has a Xenon which takes stunning photos and videos, as far my opinion N82 is the best ever camera phone made by Nokia :smileywink:

Re: Photo quality and video quality need to be improved N95 8GB

Nokia just announced its 8 Mpix range. Of course the 8 Mpix may be for nothing if the focusing and flash options are not improved.

I don't think there will be any more updates to the N95 8GB as this phone is getting old and is already in a firmware 3xx. So it is what it is.

About the video recording the main issue is that in photo mode the camera will focus while in video mode the focus is set to infinite so no autofocus.

BTW. for a phone the N95 has one of the best cameras, but a lot o digital cameras stand alone will best it in quality.

640K Should be enough for everybody
