No photos timeline on Symbian^3???

Hi, I have recently bought a C6-01 and was very surprised (and upset) to see that the photo browser is the same as in S60. There's only a directoty type listing with thumbnails, ordered by data.

I have more than 700 photos on my C6-01 and is a pain when I want to show to a friend only the photos of a certain date.

My wife has a Nokia 3710 fold, which has a very useful photo browser: you can see a timeline and you can browse the photos for any given date. That's very useful.

I simply don't understand why Symbian^3, which is supposed to be a more advanced system than S40, doesn't have a decent photo browser!

Cheers!

In your Symbian3 device, the All Photos view is presented in date orde, with the newest first, by default. To quickly locate photos from a particular time, scroll using the scroll bar at the right of the screen and the month and year will be shown on screen as you search:

As with all current Nokia phones, you can also arrange photos into albums to group together photos from important events.

Re: No photos timeline on Symbian^3???

@michaels,

Thanks for the info, I do appreciate you took your time to answer.

But... I already knew what you told me and I think that for the user who is a heavy photo user, that's kind of useless.

You see, I have on my C6-01 about 800 photos I took during a vacation trip last month (it was a trip to Madeira Island, a really wonderful place). Mostly, the photos for each day of the trip are from a particular destination. So, whenever I want to see or show to a friend the photos of a certain date, I have to browse all the way through the photos browser. The browser do show month and year, but that's useless for me, for all the photos were taken in June...

I'm sure that the situation explained above (having hundred of photos taken in the same month) is pretty common, since all Symbian^3 devices have excellent cameras, which really invite the user to shoot a lot :smileyhappy:

It would really be so nice if Symbian^3 had the same photos timeline as S40 does! As I have said before, I love the way my wife's Nokia 3710 fold is capable of separating the photos day by day. That's the way Symbian^3 should be.

Besides, most of the modern digital cameras have some kind of photos timeline, even the cheapest ones...

I really don't understand why Nokia didn't include on Symbian^3 devices (which are very expensive phones) a feature that was already present on the cheaper S40 devices as the 3710 fold.

I would really appreciate if you be so kind and forward to the Symbian^3 imaging team my request, which I'm certain would be very appreciated by all Symbian^3 users.

Best regards,

dude, you can put your target photos into an album, which is one of the features for photo viewer in N8. After that you can view them by select album.

Hope this can help you.

Re: No photos timeline on Symbian^3???

nokton12 and bkly11,

Thanks for your input, but that's not what I'm talking about. I have some albuns on my C6-01, but that's not good enough.

My wife's Nokia 3710 fold (S40) has a feature in the photo browser that is very, very, useful. As in Symbian^3, in S40 you can make albuns and that is great. But S40 has an extra feature, the timeline. In the timeline, there's an icon for each day and when you select any icon, you can see the photos of that particular day. That make very easy to locate groups of photos, like photos from a party, for instance.

Again, I simply don't understand why Nokia didn't implemented photo timeline in Symbian^3, since S40, which is aimed at the low end market, has that feature!

Regards.

My C6-01 has been updated to Symbian Anna and it still has a Photo app that is dumber than the Photo app of a S40 device...

S40 has a photo app that has albums and plus the timeline, which the "modern" Symbian Anna doesn't have...

Re: No photos timeline on Symbian^3???

For Symbian/S60, Nokia used to have the "Lifeblog" app that had a timeline view for photos and messages. However, the development of it was cancelled a long time ago. A bit sad that the more useful features of it never ended up in the Symbian/S60 gallery app.

However, you could try to see if, e.g., Ovi Store has a better gallery app for viewing photos. E.g., Resco Photo Viewer: http://store.ovi.com/content/24465
