Just wish i had read this thread before - went to a fantastic concert of Coldplay last night - had great seats and thought i was recording some excellent videoshots with the N82.

However this morning i find all the footage is disappeared ...

Had seen this 'disappearing' of images and videos before but thought i was doing something wrong. But if my and the abovementioned examples are due to bad memory cards as supplied by nokia then that is very bad news.

I found the solution for that people ! it used to happen to me ...
It's all because of the LifeBlog :s !!!! Oh yeah , that LifeBlog ! I erased all posts in the lifeblog about twice and the photos and messages r gone ! so just disable the life blog ... don't let it record the photos , vids or sms ... and for the people that found their photos gone suddenly , I think it's because lifeblog has reached its limit and has to free some space by deleting posts .. which mean deleting photos, vids and messages as well ...

I didn't expeience any deleted photos or vids after that ... disable the lifeblog and keep a distance from it and it'll be just fine ...

thanks for the tip - i've now disabled images and videos in the settings menu and will see if that helps

I am having a very similar problem with my 6220 classic. Recently, the gallery has empited itself of all images, videos, music files, sounds, etc. However, if I go into the File Manager, they are all sat there on the Memory Card as if nothing happened.

I don't know what Life Blog is. I don't think I have that on my phone.

Does anyone know if it could possibly be a duff memory card with my handset too?

Disabling was not the solution for me - got another big crash of files this weekend. N82 seemed busy to save the movie files but at one point refused to record any new even although there was more then 1Gb available - various of the recorded ones before are not on the card - will now go for another memorycard

My problem is sorted for now... Orange have replaced the handset no question. Suggests mine is not the first to experience the problem!

My new E 71 also has this problem. The first time, it wiped out my entire inbox, video clips and photos. I thought I did something wrong and made no qualms about it. Then recently it happened again (abt 3 weeks after the first incident happened). This time my text messages are fine, but my pics and video clips are completely gone! I'm so **bleep**. They were pics and vid clips of my 14 mths old toddler and I can't even begin to say how frustrated I am with this stupid glitch.

I've been having the same problem with my E71. Disappearing photos and video clips. Is there a way to make the gallery run off of the phone memory rather than the memory card?

I had 1,000 camera photos on my N82 that suddenly went missing. I only discovered this problem this afternoon when I took a few photos of a Hello Kitty cosplay at the shopping centre. Then when I checked my gallery there were only very few photos (less than 10). I also discovered all my music to be gone too but I can get my music back later. I know my photos were still there yesterday then all of a sudden they were ALL gone.

I don't know if this matters but I remember last night downloading the full N-gage software (its icon was previously orange, now it's blue), then downloading 2 demo games. I saved 1 game to my 4GB Sandisk memory card. I've been using this memory card for a few weeks with no problem whatsoever. Also last night, I tried to setup the home media thing on my phone on my home network but realized I don't need it so I stopped halfway. Then I left my N82 to charge overnight.

Now I checked my memory card details from the phone utilities, the used space is 1227mb, in use is 2546mb, but all file types are displaying 0kb (calendar, contacts, messages, images, sound files, video clips, documents, midp apps). But when I access my memory card (with file manager, y-browser and x-plore), I can't find my photos or music. And my memory card directory changed, like there are folders that are not there before, and those that were there are not anymore present. This is really driving me crazy!! 

I've had my N82 since May 26, '08, and now it's on v31. I really hope someone can help me, or at least recommend a file recovery software. Else all those 9months of memory are all gone

Hi, you could use Flash Recovery (free ware - PC), it works best for media files recovering. (sorry for my English).

Hey,I've got that problem also,maybe the problem is that your using a sdhc-card of a cheap manufacture.

or you better look for a memory-card from nokia,it's expencer as another. Probably your problems are solved.

Thanks but is there a software like this for mac? I've been googling for quite some time and I can't seem to find any reliable software.

I'm using a Sandisk 4gb microsdhc by the way.

You could try http://www.smartpctools.com. Try google with some keywords such as ' easy recovery ' , ' recover my files ' , ' get data ' . You could do this with a friend's PC.

When i put any stuff in my 8gb card till 2gb or more it reponds very slow in x-plore. Otherwise it is fine in menu. So my problem is that it had formatted itself two days back. I thought that it might be a virus so i was scanning for it and everything on the card vanished and showed only one file of 8kb! And in properties it showed 2gb is filled! So i formatted my card once again and also phone memory. But today it was behaving the same. But luckily nothing was gone but photos is not appearing in gallery. What would the problem? I'm using Sandisk microSDHC C2 card.
Any solution on this?? please guide me.

My friend, has an n82, said : try first format the card by pc then by phone.

I just found my old 2gb nokia microSD. Fortunately it still has my photos until last month, but I'm still wondering what caused this problem. I've never had any issues with the supplied microSD by nokia, so I guess it's my 4gb sandisk microSDHC? I'll try what you said first then I'll see how.
