bbc iplayer for lumia 800

To the apps developers at Nokia,

first I must say the new lumia 800 is an awesome phone with some great features but there are two significant issues:

1. No flash player support, I understand apples issue with flash but surely microsofts wp7 should support flash as standard.

2. No iPlayer app or support! This is scandalous and I have to use my ipod touch for this. Any smartphone released for the UK needs iPlayer as standard. This is really disappointing.

So please app developers sort this out as this is the only reason I would not recommend this phone to anyone else.

Many thanks

Re: bbc iplayer for lumia 800

I was having a senior moment when I purchased this phone. If I had realised it did not have iplayer I would not have purchased it. Microsoft/Nokia have taken leave of their senses without any doubt. When a junior member of the development team mentioned that they shouldn,t release the lumia without iPlayer (commercial suicide perhaps) who was the senior manager who said "Be quiet sonny we will make those decisions" ......... Sounds very plausible.

Hi delroy,

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting!

Flash for mobile platforms is a format which is at this point no longer in development by Adobe and as such will cease to be available over time. Modern browsers and systems are more and more switching to HTML5 which is fully supported by Windows Phone.

While I can understand your desire to have an iPlayer app I suggest your contact the developer of this app in regards to a version for Windows Phone. At this time there are several options to watch iPlayer content on Windows Phone like Plex which has an iPlayer channel plugin.

Hope this helps,

Kosh
