Does anyone but me use the alarm clock? I have used a Nokia alarm clock for years with few problems, but after updating my N78 to 21.002, 10-03-09 a few weeks ago, the alarm clock has become very unreliable.
Problem appears to be when the phone has been turned off overnight with the alarm set. Sometimes it works noirmally in the morning, but when it (frequently) fails, either the alarm does not go off at all, or if it does go off the once, if I then press "snooze" (yes, I am careful to not press "stop" on these occasions!), it never comes back.
Very oddly I cannot make this occur with short-term tests of setting an alarm a few minutes hence and turning off the phone. Every time I do this, both the alarm and the snooze function appear to work normally. It seems to need several hours /overnight to become unreliable. This is why I can't really prove it, except on the moments when I am angry with it for making me late in the mornings
I have accordingly over slept several times now, and mised one meeting because of this bug. Has anyone else seen this and/or is it fixed?
Rgds

One more thing. If i do press "snooze" when the phone is basically "off" (on the occasions the alarm does ring), then the alarm does not snooze, but goes away entirely and is never heard of again. The moment the phone is subsequently turned on (which may be a lopng time later), the "missing" snooze alarm immediately goes off displaying the (now incorrect) time of the original 5 minute snooze.
So this morning as a test:
Alarm, set last night for 6:55 AM. Phone then switched OFF.
6:55 AM alarm goes off. I carefully press "snooze".
7:19 AM. No 5 minute snooze alarm has happened, I have over-slept.
Switch phone on (at 7:19AM). After power on, the phone alarm rings immediately with the display flashing "alarm 7:00AM". (ie the time it SHOULD have originally gone off after it's 5 minute snooze)
I press snooze again (phone is nw properly switched on)
7:24 AM. Phone gives a correct "snooze" alarm and this time flashes the CORRECT time of 7:24 when the alarm sounds.
If I do this without an overnight sleep, it works as it should every time. Something to do with being switched off for a few hours is causing the bug to appear.

me neither lol. like i think i said previously, on previous firmware once (20.149), i couldn't even get into the date and time settings to change the time that kept going back, let alone set alarms! so glad 21.002 came out a week later to save me.
glad to hear it all worked out, thanks for the kudos mate.

Nice to hear the bug has been fixed, it was actually really weird. However, I still couldn't upgrade the phone, I tried to update the software over-the-air but the nokia server replies "no updates available". Quite funny, did everybody try the sw update over-the-air?
Thanks, m
