You can download it from the BBC.
Point your phone's browser to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer and follow instructions.

I've just been to http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer on my new 5800 bought from the Nokia online store and I don't see anything there about an iplayer download.
Have nokia shipped two different versions of the phone to the Uk market, one sold through the Online store and one through the brick and mortar stores ?
That might explain why the http://europe.nokia.com/A4305060 reports that the v11 firmware is available for my phone but the Nokia Software Update program insists that the v10 firmware installed on the phone is the latest,

It's not a bug as such. It's a restriction imposed by the mobile network operators in order to minimise network traffic.
Not just mobile operators either.
It'll work fine at my partners place via WiFi (over a Virgin cable connection), but will not work at home (BT Broadband).

Yes you are right, all the phones sold on friday the 23rd from the Flagship Store have the BBC iPlayer.
There is not yet a file you can download to add this to the 5800, but it will soon be added to software updates and available for download seperately.

The iPlayer was pre-installed on my Orange 5800. (delivered on 4th Feb). It was great connected to to my home WLAN. Very impressed....
HOWEVER it has stopped working.
Orange says they will not support it, and suggested I contact Nokia.
After over 2 hours on the phone to Nokia, I evenually found out what the problem was:
I had altered some of the network settings, I then tried to correct this by reinstalling the iPlayer from the link above
www.allaboutsymbian.com. BIG MISTAKE.
IMPORTANT: DOWNLOAD iPLAYER FROM THE BBC!

The Player is phone specific.
Hats off to Nokia Tech support for eventually sorting me out.
iPlayer now working great - even hooked it up to a 42 plasma from my 5800. OK quality and watchable if you have missed an episode of something you were watching.

ok so ive installed the new version on my 5800, but when i go into it it automatically connects with wap instead of wifi, and then tells me i need to switch to a wifi connection to watch programmes!! i have a wifi network to connect to but there is no option to do that!!
am i missing something obvious here...
