When I connect my E61i to my PC using Nokia PC-Suite 8.6 and try to connect using "Data Transfer Mode" option. It does change to this mode but on my phone screen, the message "DATA TRANSFER MODE ACTIVATED" remains there for the duration of use, until i disconnect the cable. If I try to cancel the operation by pressing red CALL-END button, it asks "DATA LOSS MIGHT OCCUR, DISCONNECT ANYWAY?" with OK/CANCEL option. I wanna know, is it normal to have this message being displayed during the whole period of using phone as USB-Drive "data transfer mode"?

when you use data transfermode, you don't need pc suite at all. data transfer mode equals mass storage mode (google mass storage mode to learn more). mass storage mode is such that it freezes your phone until you do what you need to do (transfer data from or to phone) and then you release it. You should use the safely remove hardware in PC option when you use data transfer mode.

If you want to use pc suite, select pc suite mode from phone, then the phone does not freeze during usage with pc.

Yeah it has frozen my phone down with the "Data Transfer Mode Activated" message on the phone screen with a progress bar showing some progress for all the time the phone is connected to PC in "Mass storage mode". I am not using PC-SUITE at all for this mode and also using the "safely remove hardware" option as well. That means it's normal. Thanks manta!
