Unable to Sync N97 with MAC ... Where can I find N97 plug in MAC fro syncronization.

The isync usually appears a few weeks after the phone goes on sale.  This happens every time a new model is launched.

All you can do is keep checking the link below for the N97 to appear, or google for alternative solutions.

It is silly and annoying that they do not have the plugins ready before launch.

I guess for now you could find 3rd party commercial solutions like http://www.mactomster.de/isync-en/ which does lists the N97 as supported.

But agreed that, considering Nokia does eventually get all their latest models supported with an iSync plugin, it's a pity that they don't hasten the process by making the plugin available together with the release of the phone.

Mactomster does NOT support N97 neither does any other third party support 'iSync" for this computer. I have tested them ALL. Apparently Nokia have changed the protocol of their N97 so it doesn’t work.

I have spoken to their "supposed"  support helpline in the UK and they are less than helpful. In fact damn arrogant!!

Their answer is "Blame Apple"...  NOT GOOD ENOUGH NOKIA!!

If you want people to buy your phones they ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to write the script!!. Apple provide them with DEVELOPER KIT its just that NOKIA are "FAILING" the Apple Mac community yet again. I am now thinking of returning my phone as "UNFIT FOR PURPOSE" under trade descriptions act.

Has anyone else had same problems with NOKIA's arrogance?

What a pity they don't read these Forums!!  They would get quite a shock.

Let me know if we get a solution.

Several 3rd party developers have said that Nokia hosed up the communications protocol in the N97. I am not a developer so I cannot say exactly. Regardsless, this is not Apple's fault. The blame is squarely on Nokia's shoulders.

Euro Tech dept rang me after 3 weeks wait!!.... Got nowhere with them. All they said was they can't deal with complaints re sync to Apple Mac..... Then who can? It seems when I asked as well re the FORUMS that NOKIA cannot care less about what people say on them... They told me "NOKIA .. NOTE!!... Do NOT monitor these discussion Forums as they are just 'private gripes'."....  NICE ONE eh Guys!! So that's what they think of us 'technical  folk'. They admit they caused the problem with the N97 but wont do anything about fixing it, or even respond to our 'genuine complaints' regarding their 'flagship' phone.

Still find it funny that if you put iSync on Nokia site and try finding the N97 it tells you "This phone does NOT EXIST".. It might well as not!! 

Looks like its back to phone for us all or some other SYMBIAN that has a nice iSync with Apple Mac.

Poor show NOKIA.. Shame you don't read your forums.

I too was disappointed that iSync does not support the N97, so looked for alternatives to Sync my Macbook Pro with the N97.

As i have a google account, and use gmail as my main email address, I can sync google with my laptop. THe main thing I wanted to do was to set up and sync contacts and calendar. Once I set up the Google sync with the MBP, I then set up Mail for Exchange on the N97. After a couple of failed attempts, it os now working ( fingers crossed ) and the calendar and contacts are now synced with Google online ( which in turns sync with the laptop )

I just buy a N97, and poor of me doesn't sinch with my Mac in Snow Leopard, so i will gently took back my Iphone 3GS, and never return in Nokia, even i am satisfied with E71 (i have two number as i live in two country) , i will at the first occasion also change it for a brand consider Apple use as customer, Nokia should change that point because in PC they have a complete tool but for mac is the desert with the poor Isync ..... 

As Nokia consider Mac user doesn't exist, so i will consider Nokia doesn't exist

 if anybody in Asia want my N97 he is welcome to buy it at half of the price i buy it 2 days ago

@ nottmbantam - I tried doing something similar but couldn't get it to work. As I'm using MS Entourage I have one extra level of complexity and it fails at iCal as the Entourage calendar and the Google calendar are separate calendars in iCal and there is no way to sync the two.

Glad to hear that this is working for you but I find it to be a overly complex solution with too many points for failure, maybe the "Nokia Coming Soon" (LOL) Ovi Suite for Mac will provide an easier solution.

Ovi for Mac has been rumored for more than a year. I dont know if it's Apple delaying Nokia developers from moving forward or if it's Nokia not being able to collaborate effectively with Apple but something doesn't feel right about the Ovi for Mac announcements and factual results. 

I've been test-driving Syncfony recently. It's a non-Bluetooth Mac-based server-side sync solution for Nokia phones on the Mac desktops. Configuration is less painful compared to the Bluetooth adventures my Nokias had with their Macs in the last 2 years. There is no mysterious pairing problem that comes up every now and then only to disappear later for no reason. Plus www.syncfony.com I think keeps a copy of all synced up personal data in an encrpyted database you can do restores later on. I can't believe I've been backing up solely relying on Bluetooth for all these years. It's a very local option with no fallback alternatives.

Ovi Suite for Mac has been promised for more than a year and it would be safe to assume that it is not coming. Apple has supplied the API's that Nokia needs but to date, Nokia has not produced the (not required in my opinion) solution. I currently use: Nokia Multi-media Transfer, and iSync to move data between my phones. The foot print is smaller than a Ovi Suite would most likely be and some of the required apps: iSync, BT, are native to the Mac and would have less problems. Between iSync, and NMT, I have no problems at all with getting my data where it needs to be. 

 If you need help setting this up, ask, and others here will come to your rescue.

I had download the isync plugin for N97, but the bluetooth connection with my mac drop off.

Any suggestion that will make it work?

I found a solution, and now it works in my n97. From MESSAGES menu, setup any email account to be synchronized. (You don't really need to syc it, so it can be any address). After this is has been working well.

No the previously suggested "solution" is really not the solution. I have several email acccounts on my N97 but it doesn't change anything (how could it be related to dropping a bluetooth connection?)

I have the same problem: 

* when I ONLY SYNC CALENDARS everything works well

* when I SYNC ONLY CONTACS I get this message:

There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been canceled on the phone.

* when I SYNC  BOTH CONTACTS AND CALENDARS I get this message:

The connection was lost while talking to the phone. Device “Maurits N97” synchronization failed. 

 I have deleted and reinstalled the software + plug in but it does not change anything.

Since more users have this problem.... who knows a solution?

Nokia: After waiting for more than half a year for the sync between N97 and MAC.... CAN WE FINALLY HAVE A GOOD WORKING TOOL??!!

Just found the solution to mine and others' problem of not syncing the contacts:

(from an apple forum): 

(* make sure you have upgraded your firmware to at least 2.0 )

To get contacts to sync you need to reset the contacts database. Insert a MicroSD card into your phone and do a backup of your contacts from the phone’s “File Mgr” app. Now immediately restore just the contacts, the phone will reboot. Turn on contacts sync in iSync and it should work great =)

It worked for me and other forum users well!

Thanks Maurits for your help. I must admit that I would never have been able to get my calendar in order without your hints, even if I visited Nokia service!!. The rest (address book) I leave to time when the Nokia-people have got their act together.

I have really been battling with this for months now. Latest firmware, latest plugin and I followed all the steps precisely. Still does not work. Setting up a 3-way sync with gmail, Mac and N97 works but is that the best solution that Nokia can come up with? Does Nokia really think everyone in the world uses Wondows? Mac users love their Macs way more than their Nokia phones. My next phone is an iPhone. I have had enough of this... Even the online music store only supports Internet Explorer - how pathetic is that??
