Synchronizing PC suite with Windows Vista Calendar...

Synchronizing PC suite with Windows Vista Calendar and Windows Live Calendar

I am trying to sync my 5800 XM with my windows live calendar.  I have not found a way to do this directly.  Apparently there is no syncing options with windows live for the 5800.

I have been trying an indirect way to sync, by having my Windows Vista Calendar subscribe to my Live Calendar.  The link between the two calendars works fine, with my live calendar showing up in the list of viewable calendars.

IE. There are two of them. You chose which one to view by clicking the checkbox.  Both are checked.

When I try to sync with PC suite to Windows Vista Calendar, the Live Calendar (the one I subscribe to) doesn't show in the list of calendars in the Nokia PC Sync Settings/Windows Vista Calendar selection.  Other calendar's do, just not the subscribed one.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.  Telling me to use Google calendar with goosync or OVI Suite is not helpful.  Thank you in advance.

I am using ...

PC Suite 7.1.30.9

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

Nokia 5800 XM firmware V 21.2.025 (US)

Re: Synchronizing PC suite with Windows Vista Calendar and Windows Live Calendar

Its because of the following reasons

Supported Personal Information Managers:

To keep your information up to date on both the PC and the device, you can synchronize with the following Personal Information Manager applications:

Microsoft Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2007 Microsoft Outlook Express / Windows Address Book

Microsoft Windows Calendar and Contacts

Lotus Notes 5.x, 6.x, 7.0, and 8.x

Lotus Organizer 5.x and 6.x

Re: Synchronizing PC suite with Windows Vista Calendar and Windows Live Calendar

I am running windows vista business with windows calendar (not live calander) on my PC.  There is a lot of talk of synchronisation problems.  Before I spend my hard earned cash on a Nokia E71 or a Nokia 5800, I would be grateful if someone could tell me definitively whether it is possible to synchronise my to windows calendar reliably to these devices.  Many thanks in advance.

Re: Synchronizing PC suite with Windows Vista Calendar and Windows Live Calendar

Hi robbies,

You can check the PIMs supported by Nokia PC Suite in my above post in this same thread.  I am damn sure that Windows Calendar is in supported PIM list.

Also, for sync you can have a look here :smileyhappy:

Re: Synchronizing PC suite with Windows Vista Calendar and Windows Live Calendar

Greetings from Argentina, I had the same problem with my nokia N96, my calendar, and my hotmail account the only way I found to solve this is by using Mail for Exchange what i just did was the following:

  • Select Menu | Applications | Mail for Exchange.
  • Now select Sync mode.
  • Choose Yes when asked whether you want to create a profile.
  • Enter your Windows Live Hotmail address under Email address:.
  • Don't leave the Domain field blank, just type "none"
  • Type your full Windows Live Hotmail address (including "@live.com" or "@hotmail.com", for example) again under Username.
  • Enter your Windows Live Hotmail password under Password.
  • Select OK.
  • You may find an Acces point name  field but don't worry just continue and then it will ask u to choose an APN wich you can choose betewen your wifi or your service provider GPRS APN(charges may apply)
  • Type "m.hotmail.com" (not including the quotation marks) under Exchange server.
  • Make sure Yes is selected for Secure connection.
  • Press the rightbutton.
  • Verify your Windows Live Hotmail address is entered under Username and the Password field is populated, too, while Domain shows None.
  • Press the rightbutton.
  • Pick your desired synchronization schedule. In my case I select manual
  • Make sure Server wins is selected for In case of conflict:.
  • Press the rightbutton again.
  • Pick calendar synchronization options.
  • Press the rightbutton.
  • Make sure No is selected under Synchronize tasks.Under this one it also may ask u if u want to keep or delete the tasks that you already had synchronized before
  • Press the rightbutton again.
  • Choose whether you want your Windows Live Hotmail address book to synchronize with your Nokia phone contacts.Again it may ask u if you want to delete or keep the contacts that u alrady have on the phone
  • Press the rightbutton.
  • Make sure Yes is selected for Synchronize e-mail.
  • Save the new Mail for Exchange profile.

Here is where I found this info http://email.about.com/od/windowslivehotmailtips/qt/How-To-Set-Up-Push-Windows-Live-Hotmail-On-A-No...
