Hope somebody can help...
I tried to update my N95's firmware via the Nokia Software Updater.
It was downloading the file (about 135mb) just fine when an error occured after it downloaded around 80mb . I did not make note of the error unfortunately. Now when starting the NSU, the starting screen appears and idles for about 2 minutes. The updater will not start up and comes back with an message saying: "configuration error"
I have tried to uninstal and re-instal, uninstal and deleting remaining folders that are left behind but no luck. I also tried the port scanning thingy that Nokia suggested but could not find only closed ports on IP Address 127.0.0.1 between 62700-62750.
So the odd thing is that it worked fine at first and now won't even startup, No firewall settings were changed.
I would appreciate any suggestions
I run windows Vista home premium.
Thanks

I know it's been a while, but I found another way to solve the annoying "configuration error" and I'd leave it here for someone else. Nokia tells you to turn off the Internet File Sharing in the FAQ of the NSU. Here it didn't work. So I decided if it is a network problem than I'd turn off the ICS. It worked and I didn't have to turn off any of my security software (firewall and antivirus). So.
Start menu > Execute (or use the Search box in the start menu of Windows Vista) > Services > Find ICS in the list of services > Right mouse > Stop. Now NSU will find the new firmware.
Please turn on the ICS again after you finish the update.

hey!
Everything worked for me until I upgraded the updater to v2.5.2 - I get now the error...
I run on XP and was able to find both nsu_ui_client.exe (can be executed) and nsl_host_process.exe (which is not associated with a program and can not be executed).
I tried to stop the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and run the updater, but no success.
Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks!

Thank you! It worked on Win7 64bit!
I hate NOKIA's software, every time I want to upgrade the phone software I run in to problems. The same with OVI suite, same as in the past with PC Suite.. All the time problems, problems, problems.
Nokia people : please do something with the non-working software!!! Through OVI it was not even possible to start the update process - some error no. 12017 ![]()

Running as administrator didn't help me with this same problem. Internet Connection was already off, so it was not the problem either. It was the fact that the phone was running in offline mode. It seems that the phone must be online for the update to work. It is weird, since the update is loaded by PC anyway. After switching the phone to online mode, the update worked fine. It is weird that the update program would not tell what the problem was, but instead gave this cryptic error code. Would have saved an hour of my time if they had supplied a decent error message...
