Problem with PC suite 6.86

Hi there,

I have been trying to use the latest PC Suite with the users at work and on half the people i tried. The problem i get is when i start the wizard to connect the phone, the screen where the type of connection (USB, InfraRed and bluetooth) pops up and these options are greyed out.

I am getting hugely frustrated with this as my users are left stranded without contacts etc. on their mobile.

If anyone can help solve this issue i would be most greatful.

I had similar kind of problem.
How I fix it: disconnect the usb cable, kill servicelayer, kill pcsuite.
Command> Services.msc> servicelayer/pcsuite
Sart PCSuite, start GetConnected (at this time serviceLayer should start automatically), go to connect cable page in get connected, plug-in the phone.

From microsoft services you will get serviceLayer. Right click and stop the service.

no dice im afraid.

the service layer wasn't on in the first place and when i went to turn it on and got the error "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fasion."

any clue?
