PC suite - no internet!

PC suite - no internet!

I'm running PC-Suite (latest version) connecting to Nokia 2760 phone using D-link DBT-122 bluetooth dongle + Bluetooth software 5.1.0.1100 (Broadcom Corporation).
IBM laptop thinkpad T40 with XP sp3.

All PC-suite functions seem to work fine with the phone, only connecting to the internet won't work. An error message telling that the connection cannot be made appears.

However, it is perfectly possible to connect to the internet bypasing PC-suite, simply creating a call-up connection directly in "my bluetooth places". By doing this, it is not neccesary to connect the phone first using PC-suite.

So it seems that there is some malfunction in the PC-Suite program?

Any suggestions for solutions would be much appreciated! - and by such avoiding using the workaround.

Hi hhmcsv,

Have you check the settings of your Bluetooth Modem of your phone and the Operator of your own service provider you have selected???

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Yes, all those settings have been checked and double checked by cell phone provider and Nokia support, and again, the internet connection can be made using the BT software bypassing the PC-suite function. So that indicates, that the fault is in PC-suite.
The error message coming from PC-Suite is:

"Det var ikke muligt at oprette forbindelse til netværket! One Touch Access kunne ikke oprette forbindelse til den valgte enhed." (in Danish), translated into english is something like:

"It was not possible to connect to the network! One Touch Access could not establish connection to the chosen unit"

Re: PC suite - no internet!

I have never been able to get that function to work in PC Suite with any PC or Phone combination.

What I normally do is:

First of all install the modem on the computer, I find that you have to manually install "Nokia Phone Bluetooth Modem" in device manager.

When you have this installed, the next thing to do is go to the Network Connections and create a new Network Connection using the Nokia Bluetooth Modem which you have just installed.

You may have to consult you network operator for the settings for user name ane password, if you search for your networks name and APN (Access Point name) you will usually find it.

The number to dial is *99# this causes the phone to create a packet data connection. When you have completed this you should be able to double click on the new created connection and that will then connect up (at this stage you might be prompted for the password and username)

Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Same as Hans, I am also facing the same issue, after I have moved to the version 7.0.8.2 (all other tech details at the bottom)
With earlier versions it was working perfectly fine.

For my GPRS provider, the dialing number is DIFFERENT from *99*#. Looks like the PC Suit is not able to dial to the number stored in the settings of device's dial up connection in the 'Network Connections'.

I use bluetooth to connect. If I connect through 'My bluetooth places', it gets connected successfully.

I am working with N80 phone with following settings:

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Hi kpa123,

Yes, this issue is happening with D-link bluetooth dongle.

To Forum,

Is it because of the limitations of the attached bluetooth dongle? Because, if bluetooth is inbuilt in laptop, i dont think this problem will occur(i didnt try though ? )...So experts... please give your feeback regarding this :smileytongue:

I am using inbuilt bluetooth from the laptop; not through any dongle.

Re: PC suite - no internet!

The original question from me was mentioning a PC-Suite malfunction, as it is perfectly possible as discribed above to connect to the internet bypassing the PC-Suite function. And as the other PC_Suite functions works ok, the fault is not in the phone or the dongle, but in the way these components are treated by the PC-suite program.
I'm now using the bypass as the standard mode of connecting, but why should we be happy with sucht lousy software as PC_Suite?

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Hans,
Lets not give up this way. I am sure Nokia people will find the fix soon. This is one very IMPORTANT feature. At least I use this the most of all.

Nokia people,
Please look into the issue. I am not using any bluetooth dongle. I am connecting directly through the laptop inbuilt bluetooth device. As this was working perfectly fine with the ealier version, you should be able to fix it.

Prashant

Re: PC suite - no internet!

I'm new here. Bought a 2760 some months ago. Now I want to transfer some photos taken with the inbuilt camera to my Dell PC (Windows XP). Wasted 100 kronor ($12) on a CA-101 USB cable which naturally doesn't fit.

So do I have to buy a USB bluetooth dongle? In which case, WHICH ONE? I don't want to make any more mistakes.

Using a dongle, is it easy to transfer pictures? Must I install PC-Suite first?

Thanks for any help.

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Have any of you attempted to create the connection manually through PCSuite, and not use the preset MSP settings? It all works fine for my via BT and USB. I didn't even have to configure an AT command. Just used the generic phone number for Packet services *99# and the network accesspoint (APN)

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Yes, you need a Bluetooth dongle or a PC with built-in Bluetooth. But then transfer of pictures should be easy, using the PC suite.

Re: PC suite - no internet!

Well, I bought a Bluetooth dongle and using PC-Suite got my photos transferred at last. A breeze.

But if it hadn't been for you guys I'd still be in the dark. Before I found this site I visited half a dozen phone shops in Stockholm. None of them had the faintest clue about how to use the Nokia 2760. "Sorry, we don't stock that cable. Try so-and-so..."

Thanks everybody!
