Hi

Can anyone help? I have just bought a 6300 and am trying to use the PC suite with it on Windows Vista. When I connect the phone via USB cable or bluetooth I get this error message:

"PC Suite does not support the connected phone. PC Suite settings file is missing from the phone."

The message appears in a Window Vista cannot display (from a system service or process with no destop) so it is displayed via the Interactive Services dialog box. The effect is that bluetooth method will constantly connect, show the message then disconnect. The cable method remains connected (apparently) but the PC suite is not really connected. So basically if I try and use any of the apps the phone appears in lists but cannot be selected for use.

I have reset the phone to factory defaults and updated it today via the cable to the latest firmware V04.71. The PC Suite itself is the latest - I downloaded it today and it also did an update on itself today.

I've seen this message on the forum but none of the messages have really helped so I would appreciate any clues!

Hi,

If you open phone's Gallery (via phone UI) -> can you find default Tones, ect. files (or does those missing)?

Thanks for responding.

The Images, Video Clips, Music Files, Themes, Graphics, Tones, Recordings and Received Files folders are all empty. The ones one the memory card however do have stuff in like games, apps, graphics etc.

Is that any help?

Hi,

Your phone's sw is not correctly installed, get contact to Nokia service (or where you bought that phone) and ask to install phone's SW again!

Is there no way of getting these files via a download? Aren't they included in the firmware update?

Using nokia services sounds like a major hassle!

Hi all

An update on this - as an additional check I installed the PC suite on an XP SP2 PC with a different Bluetooth kit and get exactly the same error so it's definitely the phone not the setup I think.

Can anyone post me the files it needs (if I can drop them onto the phone memory somehow?)

Not sure where you are but you may have a similar one? I got the phone back yesterday and am glad to say it now works. It looks like I had a lot of files missing from the phone I now have more themes, ringtones etc as well as being able to sync.

Interestingly, the firmware version is 5.00 and the latest I could download from the site was 4.71.

I am answering! I have also NOKIA 6300 and the same problem! The thing is that on WinXP PC Suite and Nokia 6300 works perfectly, when I moved to Vista I am getting this annoying Interactive services dialog. So, your phone definitely is ok! Something is wrong with PC suite compatibility with VISTA! Try for yourself PC Suite and your phone on WinXP!!!

Questions:
Have you updated phone SW (or somebody else) ??
What is your current phone SW version?
Does your phone's Gallery include default files?

(Anyway, I think that PC Suite read that setting file and saves it on your PC. So, if something has deleted that file from your phone, PC Suite is not working anymore in different PC)

After I formatted my PC, and deleted all files, my Nokia PC SUITE does not connects with Nokia 6300 even under WinXP.

My software now is 5.50 and I updated it through Nokia Updater.

Actually it did recognise it 2 sm xtent as da icon in da taskbar showed connected notification

go to betalabs download the software updater and reinstall your previous version SW.
