Re: PC SUITE PROBS

Hmm, try getting the latest PC Suite or reinstalling the one that you have.

Antivirus sw can get in the way when installing PC. Try deactivating this and disconnecting from the net if you have problems.

Re: PC SUITE PROBS

Sorry, I didnt explain that very well before. You might have to uninstall PC Suite, then deactivate antivirus etc then reinstalling PC Suite with your AV off. The AV doesnt interfere when the PC Suite is being used, only when its being installed.

I'm getting exactly the same problem intermittently, with 6230i/Bluetooth connection. I activate BT on the phone, accept "connect" and PC Suite "sees" the phone. But any attempt to update is met with the same error message that you see. If I power down the PC and reboot, it works - until the next time.

I spoke too soon. Just rebooted and it STILL doesn't work. File manager has worked fine until recently. There have been no changes made to PC Suite, Bluetooth setup or the phone itself. It's ONLY file manager updating that's affected ("Operation could not be completed" - very unhelpful and no help at all in the help menu). Backup and Store Images work fine, so it doesn't seem to be a connectivity issue. Please don't suggest I install PC Suite again, it was a PITA before and, since it worked before, why not now? I've noticed, since being a member of this forum, that help and support doesn't seem to be forthcoming from Nokia themselves, but rather only from other forum members. I thought I had a top-notch, properly supported product; evidently not. Disappointing.

Re: PC SUITE PROBS

OK, I've now updated to the latest version of PC Suite (as we are told to do if there are problems). Phone is properly connected via a BT WIDCOMM stack (in WinXP SP2) but when I open File Manager and try to read any new messages, I STILL get "The operation could not be completed" error. I'm getting very cheesed off with this - it's obvious I'm not alone with this problem. It had worked before, then stopped, which is why I upgraded PC Suite to no avail.

My previous phone (6610) was connected to my old Win98 PC via a third party software and cable - never any problems.

Surely Nokia could do better than this - from their lack of ability to sort this out and lack of proper support I'm beginning to wish I hadn't bought the thing - they seem a bunch of amateurs to me.

Re: PC SUITE PROBS

Some more information. It's DEFINITELY ONLY File Manager/Mesages that's affected by this update problem - for example updating Contacts or Images is OK, as is playing media files from the phone on the PC. The only problem seems to be in updating MESSAGES "...could not be completed".

Is this a new problem, or still connected with the OP's problem? If not, it seems to have a lot in common and surely Nokia must be aware of this.

Hi Johngie,

I can understand your frustrations with this issue. Please note that this is an end-user support forum. If you are looking for assistance from Nokia directly then I would suggest you phone them. The contact number for Nokia in the UK is 0845 0455555.

Re: PC SUITE PROBS

Thanks for that - and I am grateful to all who try to help here. I have emailed Nokia but no response. However something is falling into place here. AFAIK the only stuff I can't update (messages) is on the SIM rather than in the phone memory (am I right in thinking that text messages are stored on SIM?). Contacts, images and other things in the phone memory work OK. So is a phone/SIM issue? If so, why has it only just started to happen? The behaviour of the SIM in the phone itself seems OK - I can send, receive, store and manipulate text messages.

Have others with the "operation could not be completed" error found this?

Re: PC SUITE PROBS

This worked for me: go to Start -> Run and enter

Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

Click OK and the "phone browser" works again!
