You cannot get software to your 6230 (at least not at the moment).

go to www.nokia.com/softwareupdater to see what phone odels are supported.

If you like to update your 6230, you need to go to a service point

thanks for that. So do you think getting the firmware updated will help? Do you know if there is a charge for this service at a service centre?

Do you mean that if a firmware update will help you to use the whole capasity of the memory card ? I doupt it would have an effect, but since I do not have 6230, I have no experience of it. Maybe someone using 6230 could confirm if it is possible to use a 1GB memory card in it.

I have actually been and looked at the model in detail and according to nokia a 1gb memory card is showing as accepted in the 6230. However, after researching in greater detail,and reading many posts from this site, I dont think it is actually accepted on the whole, as the phone cant handle that much capacity. Which brings me to the question again, is this a firmware issue??? Someone from nokia please advise me what my phone is actually capeable of.

Some posts say they have a 1gb card working fully, but most say they can get it working but not to its full capacity, this is what makes me think the firmware is causing the problems.

Another question would be, could it be the quality of the memory card itself? If someone could point me in the right direction as to where I can purchase a 1gb memory card guaranteed to work in my 6230 then wonderful! Maybe Ebay is not such a good place to buy this kind of thing.

It could be a formatting problem too. My pc wont recognise it if I format it myself in my 6230, but my hubby has an N70 and it formats and shows his avail space at 999mb, but like I say, I can only fill it to 512mb. Very frustrating, I like my music!

I have the same problem with n73. I understood that is not the phone's problem. it is a problem of PC or laptop bluetooth connection... if you disconnect the bluetooth connection of laptop and restart it, the problem will fix when you open phone browser... I think this problem grow out of working LAN and bluetooth connection together of PC...
