Nokia 5530 / Mac / multimedia transfer / how?

Hello,

Does anyone here know how can I transfer multimedia files (esp. music) from Mac to Nokia 5530?

The phone is not compatible with Nokia Multimedia Transfer which is a huge dissapointment and unpleasant suprise to me... I bought it as a music phone, I have a Mac and now I'm really puzzled and have no idea what to do. Perhaps Nokia will update their software range soon since 5530 is a relatively new model? What do you think?

Can you send the music file to the phone via bluetooth?

Re: Nokia 5530 / Mac / multimedia transfer / how?

I do not know it yet (my 5530 is still in transit from the online store), I really hope I will be able to do it via bluetooth, the only chance I've got. Although I'm afraid I won't be able to transfer many files simultaneously and that the whole operation will be very slow. I have terrible experiences with my old Nokia and bluetooth file-sharing with Mac, the whole process was just driving me crazy.

I was so happy to read that many XM Nokia are fully compatible with Macs now, that they come with usb cord and software, etc, that I didn't bother to meticulously compare two very similar models, that is XM 5800 and 5530, and find out that one of them (yes, the cheaper one) is useless when it comes to Mac... /sigh/.

Well, tomorrow we'll see, when my phone arrives.

Hi,

There is a new update for Nokia Multimedia Transfer, please check my post from the link /discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&thread.id=39969

This supports the Nokia 5530 device and also the workaround fix for the photos issue which was causing with snow leopard.

Isync also supports the device, download the isync plugin for the device from  http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/isync/compatibility-and-download

Visit the how to section for connecting your device and syncing with mac addressbook ical and safari.

Cheers

Sandy

Re: Nokia 5530 / Mac / multimedia transfer / how?

Nokia Multimedia Transfer 1.4.2 doesn't work with my Nokia 5530. It seems to know when the phone is connected but not in PC suite mode (as it gives that the mode the phone is connected in is not supported by NMT) but it does not recognise the phone at all when in PC suite mode. It appears from the Nokia website that the phone is not supported.

It is very frustrating because I did manage to get an earlier version of NMT to work initially and transferred some playlists from iTunes (I can't remember how). I can't imagine it would be that complicated to fix but it does make the phone much less effective as a music phone so I hope Nokia do sort it out soon. It also means I can't use Nokia Map Loader either.
