N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Subject says it all, iSync tells me my new N95 8GB isn't supported, even after installing the plugin from Nokia.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Same here, just got the phone today, installed the iSync plugin and getting the same message.

I just hope this is a temporary thing - I didn't expect any issues with using the N95 with my Mac. Hope it is sorted either by Nokia or by one of the great minds out there on this board soon!

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Well I now have it working but I had to edit a .plist file

For some reason the N95 8GB reports itself as a Nokia N00

If you contact Paul at S60themes.co.uk he should be able to hook you up with the plugin that works :smileyhappy:

Best of luck mate

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Wow, great service from Paul - 8pm and a reply within 10 minutes and a working download in 20! Everything fine now and fully hooked up to my Mac.

Go to http://web.mac.com/the_reamer/S60/isync.html for some great help (sounds like an ad but it worked brilliantly!).

Thanks,

Mike

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Nice to see you got sorted mate.

Being that Apple just had its largest ever quarter for Mac sales (2.16 million sold) I reckon we oughta start pestering Nokia for the full suite of apps to be ported, what do you think? :smileywink:

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

I think that is a great idea!

In the middle of sorting out a small donation for Paul via his web page now:- http://web.mac.com/the_reamer/S60/download.html

well worth it considering how good the N95 8Gb linked to a Mac can be!

Thanks for your help in this.

Best wishes

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

The best solution is the plug-in's available at the following:
http://www.macme.co.uk/S60/isync.html

I got a response in about 20 minutes, and 5 minutes later my Macbook and N95 are talking beautifully. Don't hesitate, this is fantastic. Finally my Nokia N95 is doing everything I could want. GET IT NOW!

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

The N95 8GB is in fact supported by iSync, using the plugin supplied by Nokia. You can get the plugin from: http://europe.nokia.com/A4299040

I've been using it, so it definitely works. :smileyhappy:

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

The secret to this is the firmware inside the N95 8GB.

If you have 10.x on it, the device is not supported by iSync.
When you upgrade to the latest version (11.x), it works like a charm with the latest Plugin from Nokia.

Hope this helps

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

The trouble appears to stem from how the phone identifies itself. I was previously using an "unofficial plugin" which worked with v10 but not v11. It turns out in v10, the phone identified itself as an N95-2, but in v11 it became the "N95 8GB" :smileyhappy:

You should try to update your phones firmware and then it should work with your phone.

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Has anybody managed to get this working with OSX 10.5.1. and the latest N95 8Gb firmware (1.15)?

I have tried amending the plist file as described elsewhere but to no avail.

Utterly frustrated with the N95 8GB at present!!

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

Hi, i have read over all the threads here and downloaded all the plugins but nothing seems to work. I'm using OSX Tiger v10.4.11 and my phone is obviously an N95 8GB but it's firmware is v15.0.015 has anyone else cracked this problem with the same versions as me because it's really getting to me now! I have tried everything so you are my last hope :smileyhappy:

Thanks, Ben

Re: N95 8GB not supported by iSync

My N95 8Go has the v15.0.015 firmware, and I've running Leopard X.5.2.
Making the upgrade, Isync was not running anymore, I had to remove the isync plugin and remove also the mobile from Isync.
After I've reinstalled everything again, and not, it is recognize again :-)
