Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

I am using the latest PC Suite 7.1.40.1. My phone is a 7373. When I connect with PC Suite (either Bluetooth or USB able) it is *constantly* showing me less messages on my phone then I really have. E.g. I have 782 message in a folder, but it shows me only around 600. And for other folders too. A few look normal. Even breaking up folders into more doesn't help. When I look at some messages, then PC Suite seems to concatenate a lot of messages into one message.

And also when backing up messages, this backup is totally garbled and useless concerning my messages. My memory is running low on the phone, so I desperately want to save/export them on a card, but this way i can never do this and messages get lost :smileysad:(

Btw on my phone itself everything is normal.

Please please anyone, help me!

Try Noki to convert the sms to readable format (.txt, .xls, .html) or use NokiGems to select your favorite SMS and restore them to the phone.

What's the law of the jungle?

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Thank you Al, but tried that one already. As I said, the backups are garbled as well. So messing in garbage results in garbage. The problem is that Nokia PC Suite somehow does not handle/recognizes the messages on my phone correctly. The phone itself does, but i cannot move messages to my external card. So .. I am stuck with Nokia PC Suite ..

Btw. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2, 32bit

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Anyone? Nokia? please? Out of all the many thousands and thousands of Nokia users, I am the only one having this problem? I find this very difficult to believe. Is there not a patch for PC Suite perhaps?

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Do one thing that Try Nokia Ovi suite & sync your messages to NOS & then transfer those messages back to phone using drag & drop to phone but with memory card. This way you can transfer your messages from phone memory to memory card

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Sorry for the very late reply, but lots of time consmed on moving to other home etc. Anyway, i tried that, but only could not find a 'drag&drop to memorycard' possibility in OVI. But also, i updated both NOS as Pc Suite to the latest versions and ..... still have the same problem. Messages are getting mixed into eachother, randomly. While on my phone all is presented normally.

Please, really, am i the *only* one having this problem?? Nokia, could you pleasae help me out here, i don;t want to lose my precious text messages. If my 7373 can present and store my messages normally, surely the Nokia software should be able to do so also? Must be some weird bug in it.

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Yes, I already replied on tha one and it only mentions the same kinda problem I have. And no valid solution yet. And my mobile (7373) does not have the option to choose external memory for messages. I would love to have that on. Then there would never be any problem and would be my favorite choice anyway.

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Ok.... now the problem suddenly has evolved to my phone as well :smileymad: in a bit lesser way it seems, but did see 2 very early textmessages mingled into eachother now grrrr. Don;t know why, perhaps because i had done a backup some 1-2 weeks ago (although it is a screwed up backup, but have to do something). How come this appears to be a prob;lem for only 2 people? and why isn't there a solution, a phone/pc update?

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Hm no not with me. Although I do have contacts with an empty firstname, or an empty lastname. And I also use characters like '&', '_', '(' and ')' in the names. Not sure why this all would be a problem for my messages? I am now checking and filling the empty firstnames.

On my phone luckily I only found 1 messing up between 2 messages. And they both are good up and until 153 characters, then the last part is switched between them. The first message of them does not show up in PC Suite anymore though :smileysad: But the messing up in PC Suite is even worse and e.g. that first message is complete included somewhere in another message. Complete garbage.

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Nope didn't work :smileysad: So now i have all Firstnames filled, and not allways the Lastname. Normal situation I guess. Don't allways have or need a Lastname.

Don't know exactly what you mean with 'abv'? Abbreviations? If so, i what way? I do use the above mentioned characters sometimes and '/' or ',' and such.

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

I'm having the exact same problem as you! PC Suite is full of bugs, grrr. Sometimes it merges up to 3 separate sms messages into one! I have over 2200 messages i want to transfer from my phone to my PC but the PC Suite only shows 1510 of them because heaps of them are merged. Can someone from Nokia help us on this??

Thanks

Re: Incorrect nr. messages shown in PC Suite

Yes, Nokia or perhaps some 3rd party who made a piece of software to manage the messages on the Noia phones? And also OVI Suite doesn't work and messes things up. Beside the fact that it does not ven recognize folders. And probably already messed up 2 messages on my phone directly. Which seems to be a mixup with to messageparts (from character 153 on).

But anyway, it really is getting desperate now. Also having 2000+ messages, I really really need to be able to shift them to some external memory. I already removed all the ringtones, pictures, themes and all from internal memory to free up as much as possible. Why can't they supply the simple means to move messages to the external memory, or enable a setting to point te messages to external memory? :smileymad:

Nokia!! please, work to be done!
