While trying to install Nokia pc suite (N6233) I keep getting the error message "Hardware installtion wizard is open. You must close (cancel) the wizard before continuing. Click OK after closing the wizard, or click Cancel to cancel this installation." I've tried to run the uninstaller and get the same message. I've used the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner (Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_3_3) several times, Run Registry First Aid, CCleaner and XP Tools all several times with several reboots and still get this message. Is there a bit set somewhere that I can somehow unset to tell it that the wizard is not really running? I use win XP home edition

What version of PC Suite you are trying to install? Is it 6.81, that's the latest one. Have connected your phone to PC before installation of PC Suite?
Is there a Windows Hardware wizard icon visible on your tray? It pops-up if there is something wrong on USB devices.

Hi migget, Thank you fort the reply, pc suite 6.81, tried from the DC Rom and the website, I have not connected the phone to the PC, moreover there are not hardware wizard icon visible in the tray. The installation process goes few steps and then the error message window popsup. please help.

Hi samkma,
Windows will start HW wizard if there is something to install or if some driver installation has not been finished properly yet.
You can try this:
1. Shut down your PC
2. Disconnect all USB devices (printers, scanners etc.), except mouse and keyboard
3. Start PC
4. Start installation of PC Suite
Does this help? If you can install PC Suite, reboot computer and connect USB devices one after another. At some point Windows might show HW wizard. Now you know which of your devices causes problems and you are able to fix this situation.

I have the same problem, it's been making me crazy for weeks now!
Version 6.81 rel 13, Windows XP Pro service pack 2
No USB devices attached, no hardware installation wizard to be found anywhere and still he keeps on blocking the installation with that error message..
I did install the drivers for a DLINK USB-2-Bluetooth adapter before I installed the PC suite. But even when I disable al USB controllers it still gives the error..
Help is very welcome!

Why don't you uninstall the DLINK stuff, then try to install PC Suite.
If successful, install then again the DLINK software

Hi,
The reason your getting this is because the installer is invoking multiple threads on the msiexec.exe process. If you start the install until it gets to the bit where you chose the directory and then you get the dreaded message and your only option is to cancel, don't cancel leave the message on the screen. Open task manager and look for msiexec.exe you need to close all of them bar the one its using (not easy but in my testing it was the middle one of the three i had) if you get it wrong the install will close and you'll have to have another go. then when there is only one in the list and the installer is still running hit ok and it will continue, you will however probably get an error as PC suite gets confused but the next time you install all will be well !! Works the same for software updater and cable drivers anything that uses an MSI from Nokia. You never know maybe they will cure it but in the meantime you should be able to install it with a bit of fiddling, Good luck.

I have exactly the same problem.I ve tried everything but still the same message.Please if some one has found the solution set it here cause a 'format' is not an option!!.All the other devices set it up normally.this message is a nigktmare for a week.I keep trying to solve it but nothing.
