CommunicationCentre.exe crashes with ole32.dll

Hi all,
I use Nokia Pc Suite v7.1.60 with Win7 x64 SP1 to connect my E55 through Bluetooth with no problem.

The problem is, when i open Pc Suite main screen and click 'Contacts', Communication Centre app doesn't open and crashes 'silently' and an error is logged in Event Log. See the screenshot link below:

If i try to open 'contacts' for twice with second click, it is opened with no error. That means Pc Suite has a bug that appears occasionaly with faulting ole32.dll module as can be seen by screenshot above.

Any ideas or similar errors on Event Log of other Nokia Pc Suite users?

Thank you!

Re: CommunicationCentre.exe crashes with ole32.dll

Hey ralpugan,

Have you tried using Nokia suite instead of PC suite?

You can download it from here, as it is more appropriate software for a Windows 7 OS 64bits.

Anyway for this type of errors with Registry files like "ole32.dll", the safest way to stop these type of errors is to uninstall the application (PC suite) and run a registry scan to remove any residue or corrupt entries, and then try to reinstall.

Hope this helps and please let us know!

Hello baptisteju, thanks for your quick reply, really appreciate. Actually i've never tried new Nokia Suite but my Nokia PC Suite is "quite" latest of 7.1 major version and running fine except launching "Contacts" on my Win7 x64 SP1. I don't want to have a mess by uninstalling and installing Nokia Suite which will make me configure lots of things (such as device connection, driver installations) from the scratch. What i found, if i connect phone over USB using quite same version (7.1.40) on Vista 32-bit, it doesn't have such error on event log thus no crash.

Only on my brand-new notebook (Win7 x64 SP1) with PC Suite version 7.1.60 encounters such error in event log (no interactive error pop-up even), and contacts (Communication Centre) can be opened after 2-3 clicks with several attempts, otherwise it recognizes my phone just fine. It just "silently" crashes at first launch whereas additional launch attemps are successful. There must be something wrong with PC Suite either with Win7 x64 and its module ole32.dll (not a registry, it's a registered COM component-file) or with Bluetooth connection itself with CommunicationCentre.exe.

The funny thing is that the error is logged occasionally, it doesn't seem to be persistent which means there's no consistent registry / file with ole32.dll in SysWow64 folder.

I just wonder whether Nokia owners have such issues under "Application" tab in Event View (eventvwr) using Nokia PC Suite when they launch "contacts" (aka CommunicationCentre.exe) as it can be seen on screenshot.

Do you have any exprerience against that problem?

Note: I didn't have such problem when viewing messages, just "contacts".

Thanks a lot!
