Cannot get my E90 to sync

Hi there, I posted earlier about my E90, It was working perfectly then all of a sudden stopped syncing, I use a macbook pro.

When I perform a sync it goes thru the motions as if it is syncing, but there is no change on either my mac or phone.

Would love some help, its driving me mad.

thanks!

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

There's more, I sync with plaxo too and the info from my phone syncs onto plaxo even though it is not showing up on my computer.

Plus when I do a sync, my address book on my phone now has many peoples number listed 4 or 5 times - argh!

Help please

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

A bit more, I just realized that this whole problem started when I had to resync my dot mac account.

It seems that the phone is picking up stored info from that account cos there are some contacts that I had deleted a long time ago that have mysteriously appeared again, plus the 4 or 5 times of each number.

Hope someone can help!!!

cheers

Hi,

I have got it now to work for syncing the calendar both ways and the contacts work if I change from address book in mac, but if I put a change in the E90 contacts nothing shows up in address book.

Would appreciate any suggestions,

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

Maybe iSync is out of sync.

1.) Try resetting the Sync - log. iSync -> Settings - Reset Sync Log (do not know the english word for ist...)

2.) Quit iSync
Goto Users/Your user/Library/Application support/iSync/ and drag the SyncLocalCopy to your Desktop
Restart iSync.

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

Maybe your contacts database is corrupted. Select all contacts, drag them to the Desktop. Warning: If you have groups, you will loose them! (Not the contacts, only the association with the groups)
Quit AddressBook.
Go to: Users/Your user/Library/Application support/AddressBook, copy all the files to your desktop.
Restart AddressBook. Drag the exported contacts back to the AddressBook - window.

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

Hi wok4,

thanks for this,

I must be doing this wrong, when I select all the cards in my address book and drag them to the desktop, they are copied onto the desktop but nothing changes in my address book at all, the originals are all still there.

Then when I go to Users/Your user/Library/Application support/AddressBook, and copy all the files, it won't allow me to add them to the original address book window, it says "no importable cards were found"? Not sure what am I missing in your communication.

Could you explain a bit more, sorry for my ignorance!

cheers

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

Ok, this can be a bit confusing, so:

1.) Select all contacts, drag them to the Desktop. They get copied, the originals remain there. They will be deleted in step 3.
2.) Quit AddressBook.
3.) Go to: Users/Your user/Library/Application support/AddressBook, copy all the files to your desktop or put them in the trash, just move them out of the original position.
4.) Restart AddressBook. It should be empty except for two cards
5.) Drag the exported contacts from step 1 on to the open AddressBook - window.

You should have all the contact back (+ the two newly created) by now.

Re: Cannot get my E90 to sync

YOu will most likely find that the Nokia 2.4 plugin installation will fail when using Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3 and iSync 3.0 when using the double-click on .pkg method.

Here is how to make it work.

Make sure you have removed the pairing for your device and it is not connected in any way.

Make sure all programs are closed, especially isync, address book, mail, calendar, etc.

Ctrl+Click on the 2.4.pkg file you downloaded (right click if using mighty mouse)

Show package contents

Open Contents directory.

double-click the Archive.pax.gz to extract

most likely it will have placed a folder called Library in your downloads.

Open the folder, and copy the folder inside called PhonePlugins.

Paste this folder into your home directory->library

Now pair your phone using the bluetooth setup assistant on your mac (not any other way).

Now open isync, it will find your phone and sync properly. You might receive an error saying connection failed, but it syncs anyway after this so you can ignore it.

Enjoy having all your phone numbers in a proper format without having to put them in manually!!
