I am trying to install the latest version on my pc - a Dell Lattitude running windows XP. There have been no previos installations on this machine. I get this error message:

Nokia_PC_Suite_7_1_30_9_eng_web.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have exactly teh same problem. Direct acfter starting the instalaltion of PC suite 7.1.30.9 I get the error: Nokia pc suite has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I Did have PC suite 6.x on this machine a while ago.

Running the PC suite cleaner does not help, this gives exactly the same error as when installing th PC suite.

Installing an old 6.86.9.3 doens not work, it says that a newer version of the cable driver is installed.

Installing the cable driver doesn't work either, it complains about the unability to remove an older version of the cable driver.

I was succesful installign an old version 4 of the PC utility, this unfortunately does not support my N6021

I have cleaned the registry with Tuneup utilities, this does not help. My machine runs a legitimate XP professional edition with up-to-date service pacs & updates

I'm becoming desparate, Nokia please help

Download the latest version of PCSuite. Install with admin rights and when you're asked, connect the phone.

Thanks for your response. I however use the latest version of the PS suite and my userid is local administrator on my laptop.

In your post, you wrote you use v.7.1.30.9 . The latest is 7.1.40.1. Uninstall PCSuite and all Nokia related driver software, clean the registry and try again.

Do have backup of your phone data & PC registries then Uninstall Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, PC Connectivity solution, Nokia flashing cable driver(if any on your PC), Run PC Suite cleaner, reliable PC Cleaner too. Install latest Nokia PC Suite from www.europe.nokia.com/pcsuite, reboot your pc.  Once pc started, connect your phone with USB in different ports of your PC and check

Also if your phone is compatible with Nokia OVI Suite 2.0.2.42(NOS 2.0), you can install the NOS from www.europe.nokia.com/ovisuite

I'm sorry

- backup is not possible while i don't have a working pcsuite

- pcm suite cleaner gives exactly the same error as installign the new pcsuite
