After uninst. of old PCsuite & NSU, E65 remains in hardware & cannot be uninstalled

Hi Everybody!

After uninstallin of an old PCsuite & NSU to get rid of all the old **bleep**, E65 remains in hardware & cannot be uninstalled: "Windows konnte das Installationsprogramm für WPD nicht laden. Setzen Sie sich mit dem Hardwarelieferanten in Verbindung" which means "Windows was unable to load the WPD install program. Please contact the hradware supplier."

Well, I just installed the latest PCsuite and NSU, but the orphan, unusable and uninstallable "nokia E65" in "Portable Devices" remains.

This is Windows XP SP3.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Urhs,

While uninstalling the old pc suite, have you uninstalled Nokia Connectivity cable driver and PC Connectivity Solution too... If not what you can do is once you have uninstalled the existing Nokia PC Suite, uninstall Nokia Connectivity cable driver and PC Connectivity solution also. Then run a PC Cleaner which is very reliable and makes sure that it will delete only unwanted registries from your PC. Then reinstall the latest PC Suite from Nokia site. After reinstalling the PC Suite restart the PC again and then try and Check if the issue is still persisting or not. Good Luck and cheers :smileyhappy:

Re: After uninst. of old PCsuite & NSU, E65 remains in hardware & cannot be uninstalled

Thanks, cricfancy, for the reply. I had deinstalled everything (incl. what you mentioned) remotely related to Nokia since I wanted a clean reinstall. I used TweakPower / HDcleaner to run over the registry. No result. I hand-removed everything with PCsuite, Nokia, flashing cable driver, pc connectivity solution,...in its name from the registry. Didn't help. Maybe you know about some hardware manager, that can force uninstalls?!

Thanks again!!!

OKAY - Problem solved. I suspect the following also to work with other update issues regarding PC Suite, Connectivity, Vista, and XP SP3. Be aware that this is a risky procedure!

1) Deinstall everything related to Nokia in the Software Control Panel.

2) Set a recovery point with the Windows Recovery System. So you can be sure you are safe if you make mistakes in the following. Backup your harddrive if this is not enough security for you.

3) Run RegEdit and delete everything related to "Nokia", "PC Connectivity", and "PC Suite". Some entries will refuse to be delete. Override this in the 2nd's menu in the Access Settings by selecting the appropriate user you are logged in under and checkmarking full access. Make sure, you delete not only single keys but the also the corresponding folder after CAREFULLLY judging, if the folder is only Nokia related: some folders also include keys of other drivers/setting/programs/...

4) Your computer should be Nokia-clean now. Close RegEdit and restart.

5) Check the hardware and software control panels if everythings gone. Run a registry cleaner like Tweak Power.

6) Reinstall the latest Nokia software. Here, everything is fine now.

!!!! ALL THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!
