hi this is maybe a really silly question but I bought a Nokia 6230i for my sons' xmas and I want to set it up for him before xmas day. I need to know how long to charge battery for first time because every other phone we have bought you had to charge battery for about 16 hours but with this one it doesn't really say.please help.

i have never owned a 6230i, but i have had a 6230 as well as some other nokia phones.

i always charged the phone for a full day before i started using it properly, i dont think that mentioned in the manual - its just something i did.

if you are worried about power compsumption after you charge it, try making sure things like bluetooth are disabled as they eat battery life.

i had the same problem the user manual doesn't specify how long you need to charge the 6230i for the first time but i phoned Nokia supoort and they confirmed its 16 hours.

I got a 6230i 2 days ago and was worried because the battery would only last about 12 hours but the info here has reassured me and the phone is on charge for 16 hours now, thanks people

I got a new 6230i last week. It charged continually and never showed as fully charged. It then discharged after a five-minute call! Vodafone changed it for a new one, but the replacement one is exactly the same - it never shows when it has been fully charged. Are they all like this? Every other Nokia I've ever owned let you know when it was charged - it simply stopped the track on the right hand side and if you unplugged the charger then plugged it in again, it gave a 'fully charged' message. Has they given me another duff one, or are all the 6230i's like this?
