When helping my father choose his new mobile phone (He wanted one with MP3 and large SD card support this time) I found various review sites mentioning this card can take up to 16GB SDHC, which is perfect as he is wanting between 4-8GB.
He had a upgrade credit to spend, so he spent it on this phone, but we were surprised to see the manual stating it can only hold 2GB SD card.
Nokia accessories website offers us up to 16GB cards. Can anyone confirm if a 5130 can actually take SDHC cards, or has he just wasted his upgrade credit?

Yes, it will handle a 16GB card............
Are you 100% certain about that?
From what i've seen the 5130 only has a micro SD reader, not SDHC. This means that 2GB is it's limit.
Also don't forget that some series 40 phones that can handle SDHC do struggle with large cards.

Unless Nokia is wrong.........yes. A 16GB card is an approved accessory from the Nokia website. Considering when it came out, I would be surprised if SDHCcards were not approved.

Nokia's accessory site has been wrong in the past with memory card compatibility so don't take it as definite.
With the 5130 being a fairly low priced phone there's a good chance it's limited to 2GB.

According to previous similar topic:
- /discussions/board/message?board.id=accessories&th
However the user complaint will not be accepted by Nokia since the limitation declarеd to Nokia 5130 XpressMusic supports only up to 2GB microSD memory cards.
The reviews are done by 3rd party, and not Nokia. Frankly speaking "Use at your own risk, You lose your data, its your problem" ![]()
Hope its cleared !

No, that just makes it more confusing..............
If I am on the Nokia site and I see a 16GB card specifically listed as an accessory for my phone I expect it to work. Having said that, I have seen larger cards added over a period of time and I suspect they are being added as they are tested. The information that comes with the phone usually means that is what was tested and approved at the time. As larger cards are tested they get added to the list of "official" accessories. ![]()
I would caution anyone to make sure they check out the specs of the "official" accessory if they are going to buy from a 3rd party source to make sure cards from NewEgg, Amazon, etc meet th listed specs of the "approved" card.

@ patruns, you really do need to be careful when saying cards are compatible without knowing for sure. That trap catches so many people out especially because series 40 phones are more fussy than S60 ones, especially with 16GB cards.
Nokia do often make mistakes on the accessory and support pages. Several times in the past i've had flag them up to get them corrected.

I cannot say if you are wrong or right as I do not have a 5130 with a 16gb card here, do you?
All I am saying is that you need to be careful what you say! Blindly saying it's compatible based on the accessory page alone is not good advice.
