Define "different"? What exactly is it doing that you consider to be different?
Can you type out exactly what it tells you, or even better post a screen shot?
It may be that you have a counterfeit N72 or you may just be comparing it to a newer model.

If you are worried call inat a nokia care point and they will check it for you.

On the N72 with *#0000# you should see a pop-up window with at least three lines of text as follows:
V 5.0819.4.0.1
07-05-08
RM-180
What the version number is will vary depending on which version of the phone firmware you have.
The date on the second line is the date of when the firmware was created.
The RM-180 is the Nokia code name for the N72 hardware. In essence, they're the same thing "RM-180" means "N72" .
