Greetings from a newbie
I have recently purchased a Nokia 6303C, all very nice, I am satified with phone BUT ALAS , whilst attempting to download the updater from my PC and by some odd action (obviously mine) I think I unplugged the phone from pc during the transfer...Now I can no longer switch the cellphone on - I've tried removing battery ( the battery is fully charged ) and reinstalling same...but alas.nothing.
Is there some form of 'trick' method I can do to reactivate the power?.or is it a 'recycling job'....ie: dustbin?
Regards

The 6303 is an S40 phone so your options are limited. Try removing the battery and leaving it out for 5-10 minutes. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid it means a trip to the Nokia Care Ppoint.
You can find your nearest Nokia Care Point at:

Hi cjlim
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my enquiry, I did as suggested but without success so now my phone is destined to be returned to Nokia's care point and a long wait for it's return.
In the past, not sure of phone's make now, but I have sent a phone back for repair, it was not repaired but in return they sent me a replacement phone - same make & model etc: but that had faulty keys....Now!, do Nokia follow the same policy?
Qandry!, Do I wait it's return or buy a new replacement in the meantime?
Best wishes.

Most Nokia Care Poits are actually run by contractors nowadays and they all seems to have slightly different policies. You won't know what they are going to do until you contact them. Ask them what they normally do in your case. A friend of mine was told he would a get a replacement. A week later when there was no sign of it, he rang them only to be told that they had decided to have a go at repairing it.
Whatever happens, it is still under warranty and it is their responsibility to sort you out one way or another.
Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks again cjlim
I'll keep you posted with the forthcoming events but in all honesty I feel that soon I shall buy new again since I seem to have doubts as to 'repair status' on it's return.
True, the phone is under warranty but since I am the culprit, I donot expect any favours..
On the updater from nokia's d/l software..I seemed to find the instructions misleading..most likely me though..
PS>..I was informed not to disconnect the usb plug from phone, but how long does it take to d/l files?..after some time I thought the PC, server, software had stopped of it's own accord, hence the apparent mishap.
Best wishes

You disrupted the update by pulling the USB cable. I don't think this will affect your warranty. Updates fail and are fixed under warranty all the time.
The update process can take quite some time. There is no set time as it is different for different phones and also depends on the speed of your internet connection. It is always a nerve wrecking process because most of the time, you don't know if it is still working away or if it has stalled.
Don't give up on the warranty just yet.

Greetings Conjoiner
I am not complaining since by pulling the usb plug out I have accepted it as my fault and expect to pay and as long as it is returned fully working again...all shall be well.
If by installing their updater to which they supply online..where's the warning that one might be ruining one's warranty?...If so...why don't they make a CD instead?
Best wishes

Actually thats down to how nice the Care Point people are. Under the actual protocol for this sort of thing, installing firmware on a phone that fluffed its update is not covered under warranty.. but u might get lucky.
Never knew that but it is good to know for future reference. As far as I know, they do usually reflash it for you under warranty but I didn't knew they did not have too. So make sure you talk nice and smile a lot. ![]()

Oh yes, I always talk nice especially as I am the culprit ![]()
but as for smiling, how does one achieve that when chatting on the phone?
Oh well, we shall have to see, freepost to centre, await how many days?....Gosh!, I may get used to not having a cellphone again - perish the thought, lol![]()

I suppose you could use a happy and upbeat tone of voice that would suggest smilling. ![]()
Don't you have an old phone or a spare phone you could use in the mean time? If you don't have one, I am sure one of your friends will. Hang on to your sim card because I am sure you will find another phone somewhere.
If you don't, it is actually quite liberating not to have a mobile phone with you. I accidentally left my phone behind for a whole weekend recently and it was a very liberating experience. Is it the end of the world if I didn't find out about John cheating on Anne the minute it happened. For once, I had a real holiday and it wall all about me.

Yes, I have my simcard, memory card, battery and battey casing as advised to have prior to sending phone for repair, of course I was joking when I said about no phone, I can use the wife's...Likewise when conversing on the phone one is respectful and to a point - joval, since they are only following orders, instructions etc: -- it's the system one has to buck if possible...
Incidently, becasue of my medical condition, I use my pc more than I otherwise would...but that's a mere incidential...![]()

Thanks cjlim
I can but await it's eventual return
..you know, infact the wife has one and ONLY carries it when out alone, and even then, although I do not laugh, it's strange seeing her trying to enter a digit of a phone number, besides most of my usage is of text..and are erased on completion of sending / receiving...lol
and the memory only has 3 contact numbers on it..
I have offered to buy her a large key pad version but refused because of the unnessassary cost, I even ventured to get her a voice activated one..but alas...no thanks....one does try and all I get is - yes!, you are trying...LOLOL

So you are probably doing her a favour by taking it off her hands for a while. ![]()
Anyway, I hope the repair works out well for you.
Anymore questions, just holler. ![]()
