Some advice for 6700 please

HI my mother and my self have both got the 6700 witch we both love but both now have a similar problem. about two weeks ago my mums phone started to reboot its self when sending or receiving a text. Some times it would not back up for a good bit. So she took it back to the car phone warehouse to get fixed. After 10 days they told her it was water damage but the phone has never been wet. So i went into see them and asked for it to be sent back for a second opinion. Still waiting to here back. The same day i went in to see about hers my own phone started to do a similar thing it was just rebooting all the time. Could not make a call i just kept geti cut of with the phone rebooting. I am waiting to here back from them. How can my mums be water damage when its not been near water or is this just the shop not wanting to spend the money to fix the phone this is there get out. Can we go to the consumer advice about this or are we wasting our time.

PS my phone is about 11 months old and my mums about 8 or 9 months.

Thanks Andy

Re: Some advice for 6700 please

you have asked for an official report first ,try updating the software and clear up the phones memory by deleting images, videos etc and clear your message folders you could also send a message to nokia direct here using the contact us link ,you could also go to your nearest nokia care centre .

If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

Re: Some advice for 6700 please

Water damage isn't always as obvious as it sounds, for example:

Steam - If the phone is constantly left in a steamy bathroom or kitchen this can slowly cause the phone to show as being moisture damaged.

Sweat - If the phone is in a tight jeans pocket and your leg sweats the moisture from the sweat can enter the phone (after continued exposure). Sweat is very damaging over time due to the salt content.

Condensation - Moving between somewhere very cold to warm can under the right circumstances cause the phone to condensate. Over time this causes damage.

And the one you see people doing all the time - using the phone in the rain.

After all that though carphone warehouse do have a bit of a reputation of being lazy and obstructive when it comes to repairs. I've experienced their lies first hand over a repair in the past. Some stores are far more helpful than others.

One thing to try with your phone is another sim card to see if it shows the same behaviour. The most common cause of call related crashes is a faulty or old sim card.

Re: Some advice for 6700 please

Hi guys thank you for the reply s. We did get a official report from them and there was a photo with it. When i get my mothers phone back i will try a different  card in it. Provided we can get it to turn on that is. Cos when they sent it back to her it would not boot up at all.  The car phone warehouse is the only Nokia outlet i know of in East Kilbride. Does anyone know of any where else i can take it to be looked at..

Thanks again for the reply s

Andy

Re: Some advice for 6700 please

You could try the free UPS collection service but if the report and picture was supplied as "nokia care" (not CPW) it's pointless as it will only go back to the same place (anovo).

You could also try calling Nokia care for assistance or make a compliant in writing.

The report we got back about the phone with the photo was from the (CPW) It was sent to there own technical place. Once we get the phone back from them again i will try and phone Nokia. Thanks again.
