I was given a brand new Nokia 6700 slide as a Christmas present - my son wanted to bring me into the 21st century!  I have learned that I should recharge it nightly, but I find if I make even one or two calls, as opposed to simply texting, the battery runs out before the end of the day.  Is this normal for a new battery ?

And welcome to Nokia Support Discussions! Take a look at here, since there are many good tips how to maximize the battery life.

You can find instructions how to do most of those actions from the user guide.

You can also try to restore factory settings as per instructed on the page 43, if the tips don't help.

If you have a mailbox configured, go to Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Email > your mailbox > When to sync > change the Update interval so that phone is not updating mailbox all the time.

Hope you can squeeze some more battery life!
