Just bought a 6700 classic on o2, nice phone i like it a lot. Only thing wrong is when i recieve a text message it displays who the message is from and what time they sent it on the home screen which i like but it says the message was sent an hour earlier than it actually was. The clock & date is set right on the phone so dont know why its doing it.

Anyone any ideas?

you need to change your gmt settings by one hour

gmt settings are set up correct.if i alter it it puts the main clock an hour out.

taking a feeble stab here as i can't quite remember the S40 menus, but do you have an option to Auto-update the time? i.e. update using the network. maybe try this? or set DAylight SAvings to on, if such an option exists.

yes it has daylight savings menu, tried that in different positions and still the same. it alters the main clock when i do it. also tried auto update of time on and off but still no joy.

I had this on my phone too. Under date and time settings set time zone to GMT +1 and set the time manually (auto update of time should be off).   It worked for me.

as i and rad24 pointed out earlier your gmt time should have been changed by one hour

Hi sorry im new to this lol Ive got a 6700 and on the screen near the battery icon Ive got a icon like @ what is it and can I remove it cheers

this is packet data active go to menu settings /packet data/then select when needed instead of always on line.

some phone may differ in getting to this you can also try

 Menu->Settings->Connectivity->Packet Data ->Packet data settings and same again select when needed

I just bought a Nokia 6700 Classic.  Unlike my previous phones wherein I can just type part or letters of the name of the contact, in 6700, I have to type the exact letters of the first name of the contact for the name to be displayed on screen.  I oftentimes find this inconvenient since I sometimes forget the first name/last name of the person I want to send a message to or call.  Is there an option or setting that I have to adjust so that I can search the names more easily?

Orangex2 it looks like you have e-mail setup and connected if you see an @ icon in the screen. You can delete the e-mail account from the messaging menu. For more icons see the manual

Just got nokia 6700 and having problem with caller display. Whenever anyone calls screen just says call but no name or number of who is phoning.  Cannot find any settings on phone to change this.   Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds strange, I haven't had that on my 6700c.

Two ideas, 

- Sounds like the remote end calling you has disabled the caller ID sending (or network strips it away for some reason). The caller ID settings is located under menu->settings->calls->send my caller ID in S40 phones.

- What does your contact settings say ? (menu->contacts->settings->memory in use) i.e. is it pointing to the memory where you have the contact details stored

I can't set the camera to record a video of the maximum size allowed for mms! The minum size it records is 560kb. How can I do?

video recording as camera settings will differ depending on what quality the picture is you should set image size to the correct size for multimedia which is 240x320  the max capacity for multimedia is 300kb on most networks this may vary by country

I set video length: for MMS and quality: base and resolution: 176x.... the minimum, buta the size is always 560kb!!!!

Still having problem with caller display.  Numbers calling me definetely not blocking their caller id, have tried phoning from various phones.  My caller id sending when I phone others.  But still just says call on screen when receive calls, no number or name.  Recognises number in phonebook when receive messages so don't understand it.  Is this a fault in the phone?
