Nokia 6500s Slide 'handsfree' query

Hi

I'd like some help with the problem I have with my Nokia 6500s Slide please. When using the phone on it's own without any bluetooth h/free connected, the speech is very clear on incoming and outgoing calls.

Ok, I've had the phone for a week or so and up until now, it has done what I've asked of it but today I paired up my JABRA 250 BlueTooth and that went ok. The 6500 Slide is set to answer automatically after 5 seconds. I then got my wife to call me and the Jabra 250 automatically picked up the call but there was crackling in the headset and I also get this when I am changing options in the phone menu, the confirmation beep is crackly in the headset.

I've used this JABRA 250 with a few other Nokia models including the 6230, 6300 and also a couple of Motorola models and all of them were fine - i.e. no crackling/interference in the headset.

So I'm just wondering if this is only a problem with the phone when I connect a bluetooth handsfree device or, is it a problem with the Jabra 250?

Regards

Re: Nokia 6500s Slide 'handsfree' query

it might be a firmware problem, did you update your phone? does it have the latest firmware? make sure that before you update you back up all your data via Nokia PC suite or whatever tool you might use, i had the same issue with my n85, the reception via my bluetooth was horrendous until the recent firmware upgrade which solved it and made it usuable again, i don't think it is an issue with your bluetooth since you have used it with other devices, it just might be a firmware issue in this case

Re: Nokia 6500s Slide 'handsfree' query

Hi radical24

Thanks for your response.

I've had the phone a couple of weeks or so and apart from the bluetooth headset issue, it works fine so I've not updated the firmware as yet.

The firmware as shown by the phone is:

v 08.30
03-07-08
RM-240
Variant: 62.07

With reference to the JABRA 250 BT device, it's right that with every other phone (which have been mostly Nokia), it has worked flawlessly but, it must be around three to four years old now, so it could be breaking down?

I would like to update the firmware but I need to know that the latest firmware is ok and worth updating to and, before I would update, my son is bringing round his newer JABRA 250 for me to try and if that works fine, then my JABRA must be faulty.

On the other hand, if shows the same problems, I may consider a firmware update.

Is the Nokia PC Suite ok to use?

Re: Nokia 6500s Slide 'handsfree' query

actually for your phone model i believe that this it the latest firmware available. it is a good idea to download a pc suite, it will assist you with any backups in the future and allow you to check for new firmware releases in the future via NSU (Nokia Software Updater) whenever you install a new firmware or reinstall current one always remember to back up your phone data. and yes Nokia PC suite is the only way you can get things done on the phone transfer all kinds of data, save it, restore etc. yes it is safe to use, tho keep in mind that no software is ever perfect and is always undergoing evolution. hope this helps
