Hi, I live in the States and can't really get any REAL support from NOKIA USA. So, I decided to try the UK. You guys seem to be more involved with Nokia technology. So, i recently purchased a Nokia 6300. However, i want to expand the memory. I bought a 2gb Micro SD card and was hoping to just copy and paste the data from the standard card that came with the phone itself. However, when i tried this, some of the important apps and data did not allow me to transfer it. Please help me! I've thought of every solution. I tried to "back up" using Nokia PC suite. It didn't copy the data and apps i wanted either. HELP!

I don't know the 6300, but if it supports USB mass storage mode, then connect using that (or a separate USB card reader that can handle microSD directly, or through an adapter to make them miniSD or full SD card size).

Then copy the entire contents (including hidden and system files) while maintaining the directory structure intact, to your PC. Replace with your new card and do the reverse (copy the files from the PC to the card).

Yes, I've tried that. The problem is, applications such as Nokia Wireless Presenter and Opera Mini do not get transfered. An error pops up talking about "copy right" issues.

These applications are copyrighted, so you wont be able to move them, instead, just look if there is an update available for these applications on the internet. Or else you can download them again and install to your new memory card.

Oh, I found the wireless presenter for another phone. I wonder if it'll work. I'll try it out and see if it works. Thank you for all your help!

you can not copy protected applications.
you will also find you can not copy them with the sd card plugged into a PC.

I believe some people have managed to hack SD card security but I don't have the details on this.

However, you can MOVE the applications. So if, for example, you wanted to move an application from the Nokia supplied SD card to your own 2gb one. Simply select the move option on the phone to transfer it from the nokia sd card to the phone memory. Then insert your 2gb card and move it from the phone memory to the card.

I will try this tool "dd for windows" to see if I can transfer my microSD 128Mb to 1Gb.
