Nokia 6234 - headset symbol - how do I remove?

Hi
I foolishly let the kids play with my mobile y'day and now there is a little headset symbol on the screen which I know means a headset has been connected (which it hasn't) and I don't know how to remove it. It's only bothering me because I keep getting a message saying "speak now" and then "no matches" - does anyone know how to disable it? It is a Nokia 6234
Thanks

Have you already checked on the "Enhancements" menu? There is an option there for Headset with some options you could fiddle with.

Also, you could try turning off the phone and remove the battery for 10-15 minutes or so. Put it back together afterwards and see if the problem is still there. If it is, try checking the bottom of the phone for any gunk that may have shotrted the leads on the pop-port connector and clean it up. =)

Thank you - I had already tried removing the battery but not for any length of time. The symbol has disappeared now.

This is a classic problem with pop-port phones.

There is probably moisture or corrosion inside the pop-port shorting out the contacts that make the phone think a headset is connected.

Take the phone to your nearest Nokia Care Point for them to clean the phone's innards for you.
