Hi,

I got a new nokia 6230i.Everytime i remove the battery it looses the time and date settings. This does'nt happen with my friends 6230i. Could anyone help?

If you leave it for a period of time it does. Mine started doing that after a while as well.

You should enable automatic time updates if you're on orange or vodaphone. This ensures the clock is always set when GPRS becomes active (The G with no square)

I am on 02. Tried changing all the settings but still remains the same. INfact on my friends kept the battery out for more than a minute but it did not loose the settings

im unsure of what causes it to be honest. O2 don't offer time updates or sending messages over GPRS which kinda miffed me when I got my 6230i on contract.

There shouldn't be any reason to keep removing the battery unless you're using the memory card else where?

Other than that, you'll have to do what I had to do, keep setting the time manualy.

i switch the simcard sometimes and loose the setings that time. What i couldn't figure out was why it does not happen to my friends cell which is also on O2. Also my wife's phone which is the 6610i. Thanks for your help anyway

I found that when switching sim cards, the time would go.

It appears that it might be stored within the sim for a period of time....

You can get Dual Sim thingies that will allow you to keep 2 sim cards in the phone, and it switches between them each time you restart the phone - not official Nokia products, so I don't know whether this post will last here lol, but that will stop you needing to remove the battery & sim every time... there's loads on ebay

Watch out with the dual SIM holders, my mate got one for his handset, within a day of putting the part in his handset the hadnset stopped working. The other problem with it is that the dual SIM card holders void the warranty so his new handset was pretty much written off so go for it at your own risk

Fair enough - I've never used them so wouldn't know... when I use 2 sims, I want them both on 24/7, so always have them in seperate phones lol

was told by someone that there is a battery like a watch battery which is soldered on the pcb which could have got short circuited.Could it be right?

If it was shorted it would have caused other problems with the phone. It might have run out if you got a dud battery. Surely they would have lasted longer...

My advice would be to try a Nokia Service Centre
