Nokia 6111 replacements

Like so many other people here, my 6111 has been an utter nightmare from day 1.

I have recently had it repaired but to no avail.

Is there any way to get nokia (as opposed to my service provider) to replace the phone? And as this probably wont have an effect since the phone is inherently flawed, is there a way to get them to replace it with a different model?

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Nokia 6111 replacements

Main problem is crashing - the phone spontaneously shuts down and reboots as and when it feels fit - this ranges from sliding the phone open to trying to write a text to hitting a number key. It also spontaneously deletes text messages as im writing them (letter by letter) and stops only when it has deleted everything. I also have had the same time stamping problems as many others with texts. Also, when a text hasn't sent it goes to outbox where there is a "resend" option, which never ever works (you have to reopen the text in the editor and send it again manually), and when writing texts in normal (non-predictive), when you hit a key twice eg hitting 55 to write k, it will instead register it as two js. On top of this the phone responds horribly slowly as compared to my previous phone (6230).

And then there are the fundamental design flaws which are uncharacteristic of nokia, such as when you take a photo and set it to your background it only takes the centre third of the photo rather than the whole thing (making it wholly impossible to use as it is too hard to frame using just the centre 1/3rd of the picture), the horrible "flash" which causes your subject to appear as a blue alien under all situations, and the terribly low volume such that I virtually have to insert it into my middle ear to hear anything and the poor speaker phone quality and then theres the diabolical reception (as compared to my 6230).

Re: Nokia 6111 replacements

Ok, have you taken it to one of our Engineers at all?

You can find the nearest one to you on the Repair page. Our authorised engineers will be able to repair or replace the phone, but only for the same model.

I would give this a go if I were you.

Re: Nokia 6111 replacements

Hey Karim,

So if I take it to an engineer and they are unable to repair it, the same place will be able to replace the existing phone with a brand new fully functional one?

Thanks

Re: Nokia 6111 replacements

If you take it to an engineer they should be able to fix the problem. In the case they are unable to solve the issue it will be sent for a higher repair level, once it has been fixed and tested the unit will be sent back and you will have a nice fully functional handset.

Re: Nokia 6111 replacements

Benscarrow got it in one, our engineers have procedures to follow and this would be one of them. In this sort of situation it is best to leave it to them as they have a lot of experience with this sort of issue.
