Nokia 5300 music issues

Hi, I've had my nokia 5300 for a while and generally I'm happy with it but i have two problems, I can't work out how to make my own playlists which is really bugging me and i can't find a way to make albums play in their normal order i.e. in the order they would play in you played the tracks from a CD, on some albums this isn't really important but on things like pink floyd DSOTM it can really mess up the album so it would be greatly apreciated if someone could help me to work out these problems

You can only make playlist on Nokia PC Suite.Playlist creator on the handset must be implemented on the next firmware.
Active phones: Nokia N8-00 Black, Nokia N86 8MP Indigo Black - v30.009.

Actually, you can make playlists on the phone, but it's not very easy nor flexible...

Basically,
- you start by emptying the "Favorites" tracklist.
- Then go to the music library, and start adding songs in the order you want them (go to the song, and choose 'add to favorites' under Options).
- When all songs are added, go back to Favorites tracklist,
- and start to play it.
- Then finally, in the 'now playing' screen, choose Options, show tracks, again 'Options/save as tracklist', and give it a name.

I said it wasn't easy ;-)

Cheers, either way it's kind of a pain but it's certainly better than no playlists at all thanks for all the help

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

hey sorry to trouble but using that method to make playlists by saving from your favourites seems to only allow 5 tracks to be saved, i put 11 tracks into my favourites but when i saved the tracks to a playlist only the first 5 were there. i thought the limit for a playlist would be 25 so i'm a little confused.

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

oh also I stuck a movie on my phone, I converted it from Avi format I think to Mpeg 4 with 177x144 resolution or something like that, anyway the movie plays fine but the sound is a little jittery, especially when music is playing in the movie, is there anyway around this.

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

is it possible that the phone just can't handle the more complex sounds (when music is playing but you also have people talking over it)

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

I just replayed the instructions, and I had no problems creating a playlist on the phone with 12 songs.

As for your other questions, I guess the video might be the real problem, e.g. that the video decoding is taking away too much CPU, to still handle the audio. I don't think that audio CAN be too complex (on a technical level), certainly not on account of having voices and music.

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

hi, well i've tried again following the instructions fairly exactly for making playlists on the phone and it now seems to be limiting itself to 7 songs per playlist, i now have 14 in my favourites and it just chooses the first 7, on the top left of the playing screen it does show the correct number for a second when i play the playlist for the first time but otherwise it doesnt really seem to be working, can anyone think of anything that would be limiting this, i thought it might be that there wasn't enough space on the phones internal memory and that it could be saving the playlists there but not having enough space for all 14 songs but i went through and deleted most of my pics and it still doesn't work, anyway does anyone know if theres an option anywhere that can change this or a reason for this, thnaks.

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

ok i just tried with my most played list which had 26 tracks and it changed it to 13 tracks so it appears to be halving it each time, i just can't work ou why.

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

mmm, dunno what to say, your phone seems buggy in this aspect.

I would suggest you try to reload your phone software (even if it is just reinstalling the same version). Just follow the steps at http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate

Re: Nokia 5300 music issues

also this video thing is still an issue, if i want a no size limit video i can use 3gp at 128x96 (or something similar) which gives me fine sound (this is playing on the computer) but terrible quality video or i can use MP4 which gives me no size limit 174x144 which i believe is the max my 5300 can take, so anyway this should be fine as the video quality is comparatitively better but the audio is still jittery, these are basically gaps in the sound lasting about half a second happening roughly every 2-15 seconds. I am using the nokia multimedia player to open the files and save them as the format that i want. anyway thanks in advance for any help i get with this
