What is the 3rd icon (from top left) at the top of the screen on the Nokia 1661 - just  to the right of the signal strength indicator?  It looks like two 0's next to each other or upside down eyeglasses. It only seems to be there when the phone is at the normal screen. If I select 'menu' it goes away and then returns when I exit.

I can find nothing about it in the manual.

Is an indicator for a Voice Mail...

Its a voice message in ur voice mailbox. You can access it by long pressing the 1 key in home screen. But I don't know about the operator charges for voice msg.

I will try that tomorrow. It's WAY too cold here to go out to the car and I can't always get a signal here at the house.

Gentlemen -

When I tried to retrieve Voice Mail I was told "You have no messages in your mailbox." So I shut off my phone, called it, turned it back on and eventually saw a message that said something like "New Voice Mail."  After I retrieved it that original icon went away.  Not sure why it was there for weeks with no message there.

Should my phone beep when I have  voice mail or is that a configuration thing? Anyhow, thanks for the help with the icon. Case closed!
