I'm feeling quite stupid.  How does one connect the Nokia 1661 to a computer?  What type of data cable is required?  There is a port between the power jack and headphone jack, but it is smaller than a mini USB connector.  The user manual does not specify what that port is.

the port is an av connector there is not data cable port on the phone or bluetooth its a basic phone

I tried to connect my Nokia 1661 phone to my PC using a MyBat CA-101 USB data cable and the Nokia PC Suite 7.1 software package.  Apparently, the Nokia 1661 CANNOT connect to a PC.  The port on the side looks like a USB port, but it is dead.

i have usb of nokia 1661. But my computer is not recognised it i had pc suit also but it is not working

As already stated in this thread (doesn't anyone read before adding a post?) the 1661 has NO USER CONNECTIVITY.

The USB port it does have is intended solely for Nokia technicians to use for maintenance operations.

What then are my options for transferring photos and music from my computer to my 1661 phone?  I would like to create my own background images and my own ringtones.  I have both a PC (XP) and a Mac Pro 8-core (OS v10.5.8).  Is there a phone number that I dial to send data to my phone, or is the 1661 completely closed to the outside world, other than for calling and texting?  Thanks.

Absolutely. It is completely closed to the outside world.

If there was a WAP browser you could put the images online somewhere and point it to them, but even that option isn't there. Nor does the 1661 support user-created ringtones other than those created with the built-in ringtone editor.

This is a BUDGET phone, folks. If it got any cheaper SIM-free you'd be finding the things in packets of cereal.

Hi there. I HAVE read thr preceding posts and don't wish to be a pain in the *ss, but just wish to clarify the position, because I see a fairly large number of suppliers selling Nokia 1661 USB Data cables & Nokia 1661 Data Suite Usb With Software?

Are you saying that all of these are a rip-off and it is impossible to connect the 1661 to Nokia Suite for the purpose of backing up, etc?

The answer remains the SAME as in above posts.. You can not connect the phone to PC ..
