Re: Is "TELSTRA" a Nokia original provider?

Telstra are a mogul and have the monopoly of owning most of the phone networks in Australia, and certainly the landline telephone lines and infrastructure that other network providers lease off them. it certainly would make sense for anyone in his position to shop around first...it's not like he HAS to use Telstra, unless he's looking for say the highest-speed HSDPA/HSPA available in Australia, added to the fact that only Telstra provides one of the 3G bands (850/900 can't quite remember). living in Australia, same as him, i know of the experiences that Telstra customers have, not only with mobiles but the problems with landline broadband. therefore am equipped to make a better judgment.

well that would be right with you living there to make judgement on this company but as i said there may be a personal reason as to why the user has to shop with them, regardless of that the main operator in my country has a monopoly too over most of the last in networks ,so i understand your point but you can always be sure of peoples personall issues which im sure you no what im getting at

Re: Is "TELSTRA" a Nokia original provider?

Telstra only does business in Australia, I think. It could be that the phone was bought from Telstra in Australia, and then shipped to Malaysia for resale. In which case the warranty would only be valid if you took the phone to a service centre in Australia.

Re: Is "TELSTRA" a Nokia original provider?

Sockatume is correct. i know Telstra does some business in the Asia-Pacific region but i can't remember where. however, i don't think it extends to selling phones outside of Australia. may i ask why you are interested in buying a phone from Telstra anyway? for I and others that do live in Australia, we know that Telstra is a ripoff and does not really provide good service. add to that the fact they are overpriced, even for the retail prices of their handsets. only reason i can think of that you would need a Telstra handset is because they operate on one 3G band that none of the other operators here in Australia do. apart from that, total ripoff. much better going with 3 Mobile, or even Optus.
