no, nokia is the parent company that has purchased the rest of the symbian stock to own it, however, it is still a seperate entity. after the purchase and creating the symbian foundation, it was released for open-source to the other handset manufactures for further developement to increase thier growth.
while nokia may own it, it was big of nokia to release it to the others to use and contribute.
you dont walk into taco bell telling all the employees that they are pepsi employees, just because pepsico is the parent company of yum brands which is the holder of taco bell, nor would you have gone up to the Shaq when he played for the olando magic and tell him he was in amway and that you know his jersey says magic, he is really just an amway distributor on the court, because amway owns the orlando magic?!

was that just for an argument or really mean it. I am not against nokia. but the symbian os is used with better UIs and features by different handset. So its not the limitation of the os to create better UIs.
...and amway use orlando magic to promote their business where symbian is a part of Nokia's products.

i think you are too low with your hatred. it is resource hungry, slow, clunky, permanent PMT, limited functionality, EXCEPT in the areas where they can sell you things.....
they 4get that this software is paid for by us as it is part of the product not some freebie download.....
have you seen the length of the usb string on the 5800 ??? 15cm - appalling, they just crepe on customers due to their dominant position in market
