Can usb cable charging be bad for the battery?

Hey,
I have a 6500 classic and it has an option to be charged using an usb cable... So I was wondering, what can I do if I want to transfer some of my files from the phone using this cable but I don't want my phone to be charged...? Because usually when i want to transfer files, my battery doesn't have to be charged and it can only get damaged (short charging, unnessesary charging, etc.). Is there any way to turn that charging off? Or maybe the short or unnessesary charging isn't bad at all? Glad to read your answers.

Yes, I know... But it isn't the transfer of data that worries me... It's the 1 or 2 minute of charging before I start the data transfer and that could be bad for the battery if it lasts too short or it's unnessesary...

When you got the phone with the new battery & did the fully charged/discharged cycle two to three times. Succeeding charging does not matter whether its 70% full or 20% but the drawback is rechargeable batteries have a life span to the number of times it can be charge, so frequent charging than necessary really deminishes it's expected life span, though it won't damage the phone.

I don't think you are transfering files so often in day are you? Life span in hundreds or thousand of times, maybe more now because of advances in technology!

Re: Can usb cable charging be bad for the battery?

it is always better to use charger instead of USB coz during USB charging the supply is taken from pc which is quite less.especially incase of a flat battery and the duration for charging using USB is quite long.USB is oly a feature of phone provided by nokia we can say similar to sony erricson.any inputs/help from seniors.......:smileyindifferent:
