Can I use this phone in the U.S.?

Hey guys -- thanks in advance for your assistance.

I bought a Nokia 2310 while staying in Sydney, Australia earlier this year. I bought it from Vodafone and -- of course -- got a SIM card and preloaded it with some minutes.

Well, here's the thing...

Now that I'm back, I'm wondering if there's anyway to use this phone in the U.S. We don't really do SIM cards here in the U.S. so I'm uncertain how to go about it.

Can anyone offer any ideas about how I can use this phone? Can I buy U.S. SIM cards that would allow me to use this like a normal U.S. prepaid phone?

Thanks!
Tony

Your phone is Dual-band GSM 900/1800 only
You need a phone that has tri-band 900/1800/1900 frequencies

Ah, bummer. :smileyhappy:

Many thanks! My son is wanting a prepaid phone for Christmas and I was hoping to just give him this one. We only used it twice the whole time we were in Sydney. I guess we'll hang onto it for our next trip.

I'll be in Rome in the spring. Do you think I'd be able to use this Nokia phone there? Just swap out the SIM card?

Thanks!
