At present I have a 1GB micro Sd card installed in my 3110c.

As I am running out of memory, I purchased a 8GB card. But the 3110c will not recognise the card when installed.

I have noticed that the 1GB card is FAT16 and the new 8GB is a FAT32.

Is this the problem?

If so, how do I format the 8GB FAT32 to a FAT16. The phone won't  let me do it.

Nokia says your phone expandable up to 2gb. This means it's not sdhc compatible meaning you can't use a 8gb card which is actually sdhc(High capacity)

This is expected behaviour 

Sell that card to someone else and get yourself a 2gb card.

yes no1 slumko has given you the run down you see people all the time trying to use cards that exceed the phones capacity in some cases cards can be used but slow the phone down something terrible
