8800 battery

Dear all,

I have now owned a Nokia 8800 for about 2-3 months. Firmware is 03.60.

The phone only offers me about 1h talk time with a fully charged battery. I don't use any other functions than voice calls and SMS. Power save-mode is turned on and bluetooth is turned off.

Are any other people experiencing the same problem?

Is there a solution for this from Nokia?

When I'm travelling now I have to carry with me also my old SonyEricsson phone to make sure I won't run out of battery by lunch time.

Would be helpful if Nokia would respond to this issue as it seems to be very well known (try to google for 8800 and battery). It is important to notice that this battery issue is not an acceptable behaviour of a phone of this price. It is a flaw.

Re: 8800 battery

See me reply to the similar thread in the hardware section of the forum. The battery is really small and I would say (depending on your VERY individual circumstances) that 1 hr talk time is about average for this model in anything other than FULL service.

Re: 8800 battery

i would recommend buying a unbranded hi-capacity battery, www.mobilefun.co.uk do a good one (1000 mah) compared to nokia's standard and measily 600 mah... Thats almost twice as long and also the battery is half the price of an original nokia...

Re: 8800 battery

I notice on e-bay they are knocking out 1500mAh LI-ION batteries for the 8800. Not sure what they're like.

Re: 8800 battery

Anyone tried these 1500 batteries?
Is this a good idea or should I buy a 1000 instead?

Re: 8800 battery

Looked at a lot of sites selling so called 1000mah batteries but yet to find one with any reviews. Until then I can only assume they are re-badged originals or worse...

anyone know any different?

Re: 8800 battery

I would be wary of these so called larger capacity batteries. Unless someone comes up with a radical new design (which I guess would be a lot more expensive than these are being offered for)then more capacity must mean more physical volume i.e. bigger! As the room for a battery in a 8800 is fixed I cant see how these non standard batteries have so much more capacitry than the Nokia original!

Re: 8800 battery

i have been lent this phone as mine is being repaired at the moment. I do the majority of my work through the mobile. This particular phone has made me so irrate that i have actually taken the time to do all this and register. The battery is absolutely rubbish and if the phone was being sold for a couple of pounds i still wouldn't buy it. What the Tech team were thinking when the designed this phone god only knows, obviously far less than the styling and semantics section
