Hi,

I am having a big problem with my 6280 on 3.
When i got the phone i got the resetting problem that seemed pretty common while just going through the menus, after a while it seemed to go away. I turned the phone off and the fault came back but again gradually improved. It comes back every time after i've switched the phone off. At one point it even asked for a restriction code but this went away after a restart.
The problem i have now is that it will not allow me to change to certain themes. It starts to apply the new one but fails saying not enough memory. I have moved all my contacts over to the sim, deleted all my messages, moved the only app i had downloaded to the memory card and reset factory settings and it still fails. Of the original 5 themes it will not allow me to apply Ripple or 3.
I have currently got the nokia theme applied and under Memory Status it says for Phone 194.0kB, then 210kB free, 4kB used for message, 181.2kB for apps and 8kB for bookmarks. If I reset factory settings it leaves me with a plain white background and still will not apply any larger themes.

You have the latest software on your unit, but it does sound like it needs re-flashing.

The latest SW for 6280 in the UK is 3.36

Hi dfua,

most likely you have too much stuff in the Gallery.
Remove some content or move it to memory card.

You need a certain amount of free memory to be able to apply a theme (because content of .nth needs to be decompressed).

Interesting. Others on another forum I frequent, are from the UK, and they have v3.41 handsets...

In fact, I spoke to Carphone Warehouse nearly two weeks ago who told me they could update the software to the latest version for me in about a fortnight (from that date). I'm going back to Carphone Warehouse at weekend to see if they can upgrade it for me.

I took the phone back to the 3store on Monday and they sent it off for repair. Got it back yesterday and all seems ok now. Appears to have been reflashed, the SW version is still 3.36.

hi i spoke to 3 recently about the same thing and they told me they have a new version which is 2.81 i've just sent my fone off so fingers crossed hey shane

With my 6280, I purchased a 1gb card, and deleted everything I could of the phone memory, but it is still showing as only 25kb left.

I switched to nokia.nth theme, but even with this it only freed up another 112kb. I have tried some of the resets people have suggested in previous threads. nothing seems to work. I also tried using the software via the pc and emptying the recycle bin as also suggested, but still no joy!

If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

my latest installed is v 3.60 10th feb 2006 im in malaysia. but there is the 3.81 available in malaysia too

hi there. i had the exact same problem with my 6280. i sent it away to 3 for repair and it is now ok again.

I have a 6280 on vodafone the only problem is i braught the phone seperately so cant just send it off
its asnnoying the free memeory seems to go down everyday and cant seem to get it to go up, the problem started when i changed themes, is there a flash you can do on the pc using the data cable cus i cant be payin out loads to a phone shop!
