I think I know the answer but just wante to check .Story goes like this.......
Friend spilt something on phone, phone dried out and worked okay. Next day phone asks for restriction code. She enters
numbers randomly trying get it to work. Eventually stopped asking for code and just displays "insert sim". Any time you enter a number and press send it says "emergency numbers only".
Assuming she entered the restriction code wrongly she has hard locked the phone? Yes? But a sim from the same network as the phone should work from my understanding? But it doesn't.
Further a data cable connection to the pc shows the phone under my computer but there are no files to search. Nokia Pc suite does not detect the phone when connected? Is this because you need it to recognise a sim to work?
My opinion is not only has it been hard locked there is an issue with the sim reader.
So would sending it to someone with proper flash equipment get acess to the things stored on the phone? The phone itself if of no importance its what is on it. The sim and 32mb card in are fine and I have got the stuff off them for her but its the other stuff that is important. If sending to someone is not an option is there an inbuilt memory card or something that I can transfer to another 6230i that works to connect to the pc to get the files?
Any ideas

It is always very difficult to tell when a phone has suffered from liquid damage. The card reader could be damaged or it could also be something else that has resulted in the phone not recognising the sim even though the card reader might actually be ok.
Your friend may have stored the contacts and messages on the sim and these would still be on the sim. Anything stored in the phone memory will be trickier to access or may not be accessible. That is why it is always recommended to backup your phone regularly.
my suggestion is to send it to a Nokia Care Point and see if there is anything they can do for you.
You can find your nearest Nokia Care Point at:
http://www.nokia.com select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.

Thanks. From what she said it literally was a spash and she wiped it off straight away. She actual said her phone has probably got more wet in the past from using it in the rain.
I got some messages off her sim and some photos off the stirage card but there is still some stuff on the phone so I am told. Will try the care points
Thx
