Hi, I just got my Nokia N8 today (US version). When I clicked on the Ovi icon, it opens up the browser and just shows "Welcome to Ovi Store". There are no links to download the Ovi Store installer, and I'm stuck here. Tried to go to store.ovi.mobi and ovi.com but can't find anything that will let me get the installer!
Please help as the Ovi store is a very important part of the phone... I can't install anything without it... Thanks!

@evmarchi: are you seeing the same thing as I am in the browser? Just the text "Welcome to the Ovi Store"?
Nokia, please offer a solution or workaround. Maybe a link to the .sis file?

You should still be able to download apps from Ovi Store without the Ovi Store app on your phone. Just browse on your pc to www.ovi.com, login using the same username and password as here, select Store then select your phone model, choose the app you want and select Send to Mobile.
You should then receive an sms with the download link.

That doesn't work. The URL sent in the text message will just redirect the Web browser to the exact same page - with a Ovi logo on top and the text "Welcome to the Ovi Store" and nothing else.
Plus, it doesn't solve the problem. Ovi Store is the essence of the phone, why isn't this working!?

I wondering if there are any problems with your local Ovi site since all if you seem to be from the same country. We had some problems here earlier in the week but it seems to have been sorted. I've also read about problems with the Australian site as well. May be no harm to contact Nokia Care using the "Contact us" tab to the top left of the screen for confirmation.

Thanks for your suggestion cjlim. I contacted Nokia before posting here, and they've gotten back to me with a solution that works:
1.Go to Menu.
2.Select Web.
3.Go to options.
4.Choose Clear privacy data.
5.Select Cache.
If the issue is still unresolved, we recommend that you kindly perform a soft reset on your device. For you to do that kindly key in *#7780# on your device.
I hope it's just my N8 that had this problem... because not being able to launch the Ovi store is a big issue...

Hi,
After a hard reset, there is no "OVI Store" icon in the N8 (also you couldn't find the Maps, but I installed it). If you go to the web site (store.ovi.com) and select download, it starts installing, but in the end gives a simple message saying "Unable to install".
I tried:
1.Go to Menu>Select Web>Go to options.>Choose Clear privacy data>Select Cache.
2.I installed the developer version of Qt 4.7 (qt_4_7_0_opengl.SIS) (I had tested the Qt 4.7 and reinstalled the Qt 4.6)
3.I also tried to install Ovi Store from Ovi Suite
4.

Same thing happen to me yesterday I going crazy. I can still download apps from my comp. but still. I also try those methods you mention also none work for me. Did you find any new solution? I think the only way to fix it is to bring it back to a Nokia store and have them reflash but I was wondering how much will that cost?
Someone help us !!!!!!

I have the same problem with my N8. I can download OVI store file but when I try to install it "File corrupted" and that's it. Same thing if I to try install for example software update "Nokia Theme's".
I have already reseated phone to factory settings but that didn't help.
Damn Nokia!

all of the above do not work.
The nokia solution of browsing to ovi store on line just brings me to a place to download the ovi store!!!!! the phone keeps saying unable to install. This is a brand new replacement phone and I am really disgusted at nokia not coming up with a proper install file
NOKIA please resolve this - you posted at the top that it was resolved when it was not

I just got off the phone with Nokia support for about an hour. The official response to this problem is "we do not recommend hard resetting your phone", which is why Nokia mods aren't touching this one with a 10 foot pole. The way the rep treated this, once you hard reset your phone, it's your problem, not theirs. (that would not have helped me when my N8 wasn't booting after the phone app upgrade, which is why I hard reset it)
However, higher-tier and N8-specific reps are very aware of the problem. My trouble ticket was 100% about Ovi Store, since Maps is easy to get working again, and (after getting the right person) the rep said "hard resetting the phone causes Ovi Maps and Ovi Store to stop working." So they know, they absolutely know the problem, or he wouldn't have even mentioned maps.
The rep mumbled something about "we are processing an update to the N8" but other than that was mum on the subject. (however we already knew an update is coming in January) The only fix, as others have found out, is to take it to a Nokia Care Centre where they will reflash it with the firmware that shipped with the phone. If there's none near you, it must be sent in to a repair facility for reflashing. Only Nokia centres have access to the firmware that shipped with the phone.

i searched for hours... tried multiple things but what finally worked is to download the beta of the wordpress installer as this is based on QT and will install the missing libraries.....
all i did was install this via ovi suite: http://nokia.trac.wordpress.org/export/775/builds/
and then launch the ovi store via icon... it offered me the usual download link but instead of the ususal fail i recieved the ovi store...
me happy - me going to download ovi apps
