Can we please get a public announcement of an ETA for when the functionality that was removed are coming back? The new layout is nice, but certainly was not sufficient reason to reduce the current feature set of the app. This was an extraordinary decision. Not being able to perform operations on multiple files simultaneously is a serious flaw. The loss of the timeline is a display disappointment.
It would be nice to know if it won't be long. I hesitate to continue using the app if it's going to be a lengthy wait. I have already had to manually delete hundreds of files one by one because time/date info was wrong in Nokia Photos and I didn't realize when uploading.
Any update at all on how long we might have to bear with reduced functionality would be welcome.
Thanks!
(I apologize if what I am requesting has already been provided. I have not found it if it has. If this post is redundant, ignore it.)

Hi chucklehead,
I'm with you.
This shows all OVI users that Nokia / OVI obviously don't use the OVI share site themselves otherwise they would see they have totally dropped the ball here.
It astounds me that they would remove such basic functionality, and not notice that was necessary to have these functions.
In its current form OVI share is totally unusable and a waste of users time.
Can't they roll it back to the previous version, then work on an improved site with either a closed beta group or offline?
Flickr here we come.
Very sad, Myself with Family and Friends were getting into it, but now OVI Share is a Dog!

Personally I like the new Ovi Share, and I think it is much more User friendly.
To say it is unusable is nonsense.
The map view doesn't always work though, as it often puts me in the USA.
From the email response quoted below that Nokia emailed to you Com_H, they clearly told you they are working on it, so let them.
"As part of the transformation of OVI Share's layout, we have disabled some features. We realize that some of your favorite features are missing, but don't worry, we are working to improve them."

It is good that we have a place to discuss this and hopefully Nokia is reading it and taking notes.
A couple of questions for you adamf.
Did you use the previous version of OVI Share for long?
Do you have multiple albums (previously channels)?
Do you have many media files on OVI Share?
How do you organize your media on OVI Share?
What browser do you use?
Do you geo-tag your media?
Anyone else's comments would be very welcome,
Cheers,

Your previous method of contacting Nokia was the better way to tell them your concerns, as you won't get an official response from them here.
A couple of questions for you adamf.
Did you use the previous version of OVI Share for long?
Yes for a couple of months.
Do you have multiple albums (previously channels)?
Yes i have 3
Do you have many media files on OVI Share?
I have videos, photos and documents (Ovi Share no longer support document types as thats what Ovi Files is for)
How do you organize your media on OVI Share?
As far as organizing goes, I just upload it all and let it organize itself. I don't need it organized as such.
What browser do you use?
I use Flock
Do you geo-tag your media?
I have lots of Geo-Tagged photos
Anyone else's comments would be very welcome,
Cheers,
Your questions above, and my answers in BLUE

Thanks for your response,
I'm really not looking for a response Nokia. I'd just like them to use our comments & findings to improve the usability of the site.
Can you expand on how OVI Share organize itself if you have 3 albums?
I might be missing the key to using the site,
What I'm trying to do is to have multiple Albums, take my photos and videos, upload all media in one hit from the handset, either via 3G or wifi connection.
Then When I have time move the media into the appropriate album, Multiple Family Albums, Multiple Friends Albums, Work, Public etc.
But trying to do this one file at a time is just ridiculous compared to the previous version, where I could edit and move multiple files at once. It was a breeze.
How do you geo-tag your files? Manually via the edit / lookup functions on OVI Share or Location Tagger Beta or similar?
Cheers,

You are right, I am not a heavy user and only have about 40 different media items.
But I have just created a couple more albums to test this, and using Geo-tagging from my 5800.
The new albums I added organize themselves in the order I created them.
The photos within the album have organized themselves in the order I uploaded them and the Geo-tagging picks up the location without me needing to add any location data to them and shows on the map view.
I can see what you mean about not being able to move multiple files to different albums, but apart from that, all is working for me.

Hi all,
A bit of an update from my end on this one. I got another email from Nokia support last week (see below) I love the part were they have personalized the email to me, 'insert name here" on the form email, don't you think you'd get the font the same to give it the correct warm and fuzzy feel,
The eternal skeptic in me also smells a conspiracy here, This rush job to get the new look up and non testing of the "New Look" share site could be in preparation for the pending OVI store launch. And coincides with announcement from Nokia around the world of the OVI brand.
Nokia pump out these press release about the OVI App store and attracts the attention of the techno & blog sites, people go looking for OVI and presto they find this fantastic looking fish bowl slide show, but totally miss the toilet bowl UI behind the flashy front end.
Any way here is the email, they did say updates by the end of the week, That would have been 10th of April, unless Nokia work on a different calendar.

For a user at your level adamf, the site still has pretty good funtionality. At my level it is largely crippled. I hav 48 Albums, and almost 5000 images. I was a top 100 contributor on the site prior to the change.
Of my 48 albums, almost 40 of them were public. I use past tense because unless you know how they are tagged you can't find them any more.
My major concerns are with the loss of function locating content from other users. In addition is is seriously inconvenient to make changes to the content in a channel. The conversion also lost about 50 images that I am aware of from my public channels.
The embedding has picked up a few new looks that is a plus. The size of an image that you embed is smaller than it used to be. that is a minus. The in ability of a user to download the original if I choose the permit it is very disappointing.

I am was a pretty heavy user of Share on Ovi. I have 1229 media items and 34 channels. I used Share on Ovi as my blog's image storage. It seems when Ovi/Nokia planned the Share on Ovi downgrade, they considered this is not a appropriate use for SoO and limited shareble image sizes to 320px. Are you serious? 320px is near a stamp size image!!
This unbeliviable unprofessional feature roadmapping. Please go and fire the people who are responsible for this. They no f***ing glue what operating and developing Internet services is about. I'm serious. By the way. Share on Ovi Facebook plugin has been down several days if not weeks. How it ispossible that even the smallest Internet companies can limit service down time to few hours. Are you really serious with Internet services?
This is enough for me. I'll switch to Google now and pay for my image storage. I will not come back.

The functions that I miss the most are:
a) an easy way to get to the fullsize version of the image I uploaded
b) multi-selection and edit
c) being able to upload multiple file types
A, for me, is the most important one, because I don't just upload standard-photo-shaped horizontal images. I do get why C is no longer possible - who'd use Files on Ovi if they can do the same thing on Share for free? But hey, you know what, then I'll just use Dropbox. HA.
I still like Ovi Share for image sharing because of the privacy options (it's what I've mainly been using it for anyway), but if months drag on and there still won't be a fullsize link on the image page I may have to rethink that.
On that note, guys, does anyone know a cheat to get to the FULL size image submitted? I know you can take the image link and change the /s/ to /l/ to get to a large version*, but I noticed that that's still not the FULL size image... I tried changing the /s/ to /f/ for "full" or /o/ for "original" but that didn't work.
* If you didn't know that, here's the whole process... on Firefox, right-click and select View (or on IE, right-click and select Properties, then copy image address and paste it on the address bar,) change /s/ to /l/ and enter (so for example, http://media.share.ovi.com/m1/s/0806/45ed2c4e22894
